Business North Harbour - Business Update
Business North Harbour is delighted to announce that we are now back in the office, resuming our
normal office hours. Whilst we have endeavoured as far as possible to maintain business as usual
remotely, it has been awesome to return to our business premises where we are being vigilant in
maintaining the latest hygiene and social distancing recommendations and request any visitors to do
likewise.
We sincerely hope that all our members find themselves in a position to make a positive move
forward in Alert Level 2, as we all take a big step towards shaping our new normal. Business North
Harbour will continue to support our members to get through the current situation by advocating to
Council for financial relief/support and by updating and sharing the useful information, links and
resources available relating to COVID-19 on our website and via our social media platforms.
Business North Harbour is encouraging members to start using and promoting our new ‘Buy North
Harbour’ Facebook Group and we will continue to encourage everyone to support our business
members by buying local. We understand that the road ahead for many members will still be an uphill
struggle and we hope that you and your loved ones remain safe and well, as together we strive to
successfully navigate towards Alert Level 1 and beyond.
Best regards

Proposed new Food Safety Information Bylaw 2020
On 30th April 2020 council decided to adopt the new Food Safety Information Bylaw 2020, with
changes in response to feedback and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on food businesses. The new
bylaw will come into force on 23rd May 2020 and will:
• Continue to require most Auckland restaurants, cafés and takeaways to display a food grade
(specifically, food businesses which operate under a Template Food Control Plan under the Food Act
2014, serve the public and are registered and verified by council)
• Clarify preferred locations for food grade display at premises
• Introduce a new rule from 31st December 2020 for display of food grade information on digital
platforms (e.g. a website, webpage, social medium or app) related to and controlled by the food
business. Read more.

Workplace Travel Planning & using public
transport
Alternative ways of working under Alert Level 2 are being encouraged by the Government, such as
remote working, shift-based working, physical distancing, staggering of meal breaks and flexible
leave. This not only supports physical distancing as more people return to work, but also helps reduce
peak congestion and the strain on public transport. Paid parking has has now resumed for both on and
off-street parking plus enforcement of parking restrictions, bus lanes and other special vehicle lanes
has also resumed. Click the following links for Workplace Travel Planning , using public
Transport during Alert Level 2 , or get in touch with Sarah de Zwart (BNH Relationship and

Innovating Streets projects agreed by Auckland
Council
The Innovating Streets for People pilot fund (more than $7 million) will help councils create more
people-friendly spaces in our towns and cities. Many of us in urban areas want to live in vibrant
neighbourhoods, where we easily get to work, and access shops and services. We want to feel safe
and comfortable moving around, in ways that are good for our health and take care of the planet.
Tactical urbanism can be used to make quick progress by testing and piloting projects to help
demonstrate their value to the community. Read more.
