ATHLETE’S FOOT Athlete’s foot is a fungal infection. The most common complaints are itching, burning and stinging. There are many antifungals available by prescription and over-the-counter that can be used to treat athlete’s foot. A powder should also be used to promote a dry environment. Clean, dry shoes should be worn and cotton balls or pads can be put between the toes to help the infection heal faster. Treatment should last for at least two weeks. The following were present: Board Chairman- Terry Oathoudt, Trustee- Lee Poeppe, Superintendent- Leon Vogl, and Clerk- Jean Jessen. Absent: Trustee-Delmar Kopp. Discussion was held on Resolution #162: To fix a date for a public hearing on the purchase of an aerial truck. A motion was made by Chairman Oathoudt and seconded by Poeppe to approve resolution #162 as presented (a copy of resolution #162 is available to review at Anita Municipal Utilities’ office). Vote: Poeppe- Aye. Oathoudt- Aye. Motion carried. The next monthly meeting will be held at 8 AM on Tuesday, September 10 th , 2019, in the Board Room. I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but when we have stories that involve local people, we also make sure that it says they’re from Anita. This is in case someone is reading this in 100 years, they’ll know. Do you ever think about what it will be like here in 100 years? I do sometimes and it makes me a little sad. I wonder if anyone will know what a cool little town this place is. *** I was looking at the obligatory selfies that we took at the State Fair and was noticing the gray in my hair. I’m looking a little older. Still, grandmas aren’t what they used to be. My grandma had white hair the whole time I knew her. Her hair started graying when she was in her 20’s. Grandmas back then LOOKED like grandmas. Of course, you have to take into account that they had a lot more kids than the typical family has nowadays and they worked a lot harder, too. I always say that I earned every gray hair on my head, and I’m sure she did too. *** I know I’m getting older because some of the things that young people say today are starting to irritate me. For instance, they say, “It was, like, so awesome.” I always want to say, “Was it LIKE awesome, or WAS it awesome?” It’s a legitimate question, I think. Also now when artists put out a new album, it’s “dropped.” Taylor Swift just “dropped” her new album today. Come on, just say “released” or “put out.” Ugh! One more – I hate it when people say “whole entire.” Isn’t that redundant? It’s either whole or entire, not both. J *** Anyone who sees my stuff on Facebook knows that I’ve been taking “nature” pictures. When we were at the State Fair, we checked out the photography contest. I wanted to see if anything I’ve taken would be remotely good enough for next year. Some of them may be, but there were some gorgeous photos. I’ll have to up my game to compete. I have entered the “Silos & Smokestacks” contest, though. When it comes time for voting, I’ll let you know, so if you like my photo, you can vote for it. Thank you in advance! *** My two oldest grands started school last week. Jesse is in seventh grade and Ella is a sixth grader. What? When did this happen? Parents, spend all the time you can with your children. Play with them, read to them. On August 3rd, we enjoyed the Anita Parade and on the sixth, Bill S. came to share his music with us. We had a full house, all enjoying his time with us! We are enjoying our weekly golf cart rides to beautiful Lake Anita. The Little Dresses gals came in on the 9th. Some of us stepped in to help and we always enjoy the visit and chitchat. The 16th was our “Fair Day”; we played games and the vase guess. It held 240 popsicle sticks. Wayne and Judy split the prize with the closest guess. I made funnel cakes and we had a grill out at noon and corn dogs for supper. Those seem to be a fair favorite – yum! On Aug. 20 we went to the beautiful Lake Anita and did some fishing. It was a pretty day and was nice to kick back and relax a bit. Jody R. and her piano students came on the 6th and shared their tunes with us. We all enjoyed having them and they all did a wonderful job! Bingo, LRC, Penny Ante, Penny Pitch are some of our favorite games we play. Judi Z. comes every month to do crafts with us, bringing out our creative side or so we say (ha, ha!). Janet will be here on the 29th with her guitar. She is the “Raccoon River Farm Girl” from Stuart. As always, we appreciate all of our volunteers that come and share their time with us! WANT ADS PAY! Anita Municipal Utilities Board Proceedings

Special SessionAugust 22, 2019

The Board of Trustees of the Anita Municipal Utilities met in special session on Thursday, August 22, 2019, in the Board Room of the Anita Municipal Utilities. The following were present: Board Chairman- Terry Oathoudt, Trustee- Lee Poeppe, Superintendent- Leon Vogl, and Clerk- Jean Jessen. Absent: Trustee-Delmar Kopp.

Discussion was held on Resolution #162: To fix a date for a public hearing on the purchase of an aerial truck.
