FROM THE HARBOR (110) FREEWAY Take the 110 Harbor Freeway south towards San Pedro. Exit at Rt. 47, the Vincent Thomas Bridge. Cross the bridge and exit at Ferry Street (the first exit coming down off the bridge), and turn left (onto Ferry) at the signal. Turn right onto Terminal Way (second signal). After one signal and two stop signs, the road curves left and becomes South Seaside Avenue. After the curve, you’ll see water on the left, after which SCMI is the first building, a tan two-story with a reddish fence along the street. Public parking is on the street (east side only). FROM THE LONG BEACH (710) FREEWAY Take the 710 Long Beach Freeway south to Terminal Island (right two lanes when fwy splits). Then continue on to the Gerald Desmond Bridge (Ocean Blvd) by staying to the left. Cross the bridge, continuing on Ocean Blvd then exit at Ferry Street about 3 miles (just before the Vincent Thomas bridge, which you don’t want to cross). The offramp will turn left under the bridge onto Ferry Street. Continue on Ferry, and at the third signal turn right onto Terminal Way. After one signal and two stop signs, the road curves left and becomes South Seaside Avenue. After the curve, you’ll see water on the left, after which SCMI is the first building, a tan two-story with a reddish fence along the street. Public parking is on the street (east side only). HINTS FOR FINDING US IF YOU GET LOST: • Stay on Terminal Island - between the Vincent Thomas Bridge and the Gerald Desmond Bridge. • The Terminal Island Correctional Institution and the Coast Guard are past us on South Seaside Ave. So follow any signs to these

that you see. If you reach them, you have gone too far. If you are lost ask for directions to these two landmarks! PARKING Free public parking is on the street (east side only). Do Not park inside the chain link fenced area. This is for SCMI staff only. If you continue past SCMI, there is additional free parking in the lot on the right hand side of the road.

Terminal Island is constantly undergoing construction, with detours and missing street signs. Be sure to follow the driving directions on this page or from the SCMI website. We have had reports that some GPS directions are not accurate. Leave

yourself plenty of time to find us!

Closure: The connector ramp from the southbound I-710 Freeway to westbound Ocean Boulevard closed permanently on May 10, 2014. The ramp has been demolished as part of the Gerald Desmond Bridge Replacement Project. A new ramp is expected to be completed in late-2016.

Detour: Traffic traveling from the southbound I-710 Freeway and heading to Terminal Island, the Port of Los Angeles or San Pedro, is diverted briefly onto surface streets. Motorists should follow detour signs to Terminal Island to take the Pico Avenue off-ramp (Piers B, C, D, E) and remain in the right lane to reach southbound Pico Avenue. Continue south on Pico Avenue for approximately one-half mile to the on-ramp for westbound Ocean Boulevard and the existing Gerald Desmond Bridge to reach Terminal Island and other westbound destinations (on-ramp indicating “Piers S, T/Terminal Island”).

EWS

Start Date: 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016*Duration: 36 months

Closure: Eastbound Ocean Boulevard between the Gerald Desmond Bridge and downtown Long Beach will be closed for crews to construct the new bridge. Closure of the section of Ocean Blvd. above Pico Avenue will require all vehicles heading to downtown Long Beach from the Desmond Bridge to briefly exit Ocean Blvd. to Pico Avenue and rejoin Ocean via the existing on-ramp. Westbound Ocean will remain open, although motorists may expect a brief realignment of the lanes.

Signalized intersections and improvements to on- and off-ramps will help traffic merge and flow, and reduce delays. The closure is expected to begin in January 2016 and last 36 months. Please note the northbound Long Beach (710) Freeway connector will remain open at this time.

*Closure dates and times are subject to change. For the latest information, visit newgdbridge.com and sign up for weekly updates or download the LB Bridge app.

Detour: Vehicles heading east on Ocean Blvd. from San Pedro and Terminal Island/Piers S and T to downtown Long Beach will exit at Pico Avenue, turn through two signalized intersections and rejoin Ocean Blvd. via an improved on-ramp.
