The Arizona state flag was adopted in 1917, five years after its admission into the Union.
Quoted from legislation, here is how the Arizona flag is to look:
...represents the copper star of Arizona rising from a blue field in the face of a setting sun
The field of blue that covers the bottom half of the flag is called liberty blue and is the same coof blue found on the United States flag. The thirteen gold and red rays represent the sun settin
over the desert and the original thirteen colonies. The colors of gold and red come from the col
of the Spanish explorer, Coronado. In the center of the flag is the a copper star. This star repres
the state of Arizona while the copper color reflects that Arizona
is the number one producer of copper in the United States.
