The Parent Leadership Training Institute trains, inspires and empowers
parents to become effective advocates for children.
PLTI is a statewide initiativecreated to improve the lifelong
health, safety and education of Hawaii’s children by helping caring individuals develop the leadership skillsto make real change – in schools, communities and state and local
governments.
Through PLTI’s unique adult learning experience, individuals explore their passions, strengths, beliefs and ideas. Then they work to develop interpersonal and communication skills, as well as understanding government, media and civic relations.
It’s amazing what one person can do!
No one knows what children need better than parents, and you don’t have to be a parent to get involved. No one knows what your community needs better than you. PLTI helps caring individuals get and remain informed, engaged and involved in their neighborhood, schools and community, so everyone can benefit from their ideas and passions.
Since its inception in Connecticut, PLTI has helped more than 5,000 individuals across the country make a difference by taking leadership roles for children in local Parent Teacher Organizations, Parental Involvement Committees, Board of Education, Neighborhood Boards, City Councils, and non-profits.
PLTI graduates say what they learn about the world and themselves in this course makes for a life-changing experience.
