COURSE DESCRIPTION This course offers a review of important and timely topics in the field of perinatal medicine. Based on a review of the literature, input from our own expert faculty, and analyses from past conferences, we are proud to offer a comprehensive program with topics that include: Preeclampsia; mental health disorders in pregnancy; operative fetscopy; COVID in pregnancy; thyroid disease in pregnancy; viral infections; electronic fetal heart rate monitoring; and a host of other topics. Lectures by USC faculty from the Keck School of Medicine and distinguished guest faculty from the University of Arizona will outline controversies, discuss recent developments, and suggest recommendations. Participants have direct access to the speakers and ample opportunity for intensive question and answer post-lecture discussions.

TARGET AUDIENCEThe program was developed for gynecologists, obstetricians, perinatologists, neonatologists, nurses, nurse midwives and other allied health professionals. It is USC’s mission that this educational opportunity provide participants with objective, evidence-based clinical content, to incorporate into their practices and improve the clinical care and further the well-being of their patients.

COURSE OBJECTIVESBy the end of the course, participants will be able to:

• Assess current literature regarding the management of hypertension in pregnancy.

• Formulate a practical plan to manage COVID-19 infection in pregnancy.

• Describe and incorporate a treatment plan for thyroid disease in pregnancy.

• Apply practical tips to thoroughly assess and manage placenta previa in pregnancy.

• Describe a practical approach to diagnosis and management of hemorrhage in pregnancy.

• Assess the controversies surrounding depression and anxiety in the perinatal period.

• Construct a practical algorithm for the management of obesity in pregnancy.

• Apply a standardized approach to fetal heart rate monitoring terminology, interpretation and management.

• Describe the risks and treatment strategies for pregnancy at the extremes of reproduction.

• Explain the strategies to address cholestasis in pregnancy.

• Classify the management of monochorionic twin gestations in pregnancy.

• Assess the role of treatment options for vasa previa.

2022 Perinatal Medicine Conference

COURSE DESCRIPTION This course offers a review of important and timely topics in the field of perinatal medicine. Based on a review of the literature, input from our own expert faculty, and analyses from past conferences, we are proud to offer a comprehensive program with topics that include: Preeclampsia; mental health disorders in pregnancy; operative fetscopy; COVID in pregnancy; thyroid disease in pregnancy; viral infections; electronic fetal heart rate monitoring; and a host of other topics. Lectures by USC faculty from the Keck School of Medicine and distinguished guest faculty from the University of Arizona will outline controversies, discuss recent developments, and suggest recommendations. Participants have direct access to the speakers and ample opportunity for intensive question and answer post-lecture discussions.

TARGET AUDIENCEThe program was developed for gynecologists, obstetricians, perinatologists, neonatologists, nurses, nurse midwives and other allied health professionals. It is USC’s mission that this educational opportunity provide participants with objective, evidence-based clinical content, to incorporate into their practices and improve the clinical care and further the well-being of their patients.

COURSE OBJECTIVESBy the end of the course, participants will be able to:

• Assess current literature regarding the management of hypertension in pregnancy.

• Formulate a practical plan to manage COVID-19 infection in pregnancy.

• Describe and incorporate a treatment plan for thyroid disease in pregnancy.

• Apply practical tips to thoroughly assess and manage placenta previa in pregnancy.

• Describe a practical approach to diagnosis and management of hemorrhage in pregnancy.

• Assess the controversies surrounding depression and anxiety in the perinatal period.

• Construct a practical algorithm for the management of obesity in pregnancy.

• Apply a standardized approach to fetal heart rate monitoring terminology, interpretation and management.

• Describe the risks and treatment strategies for pregnancy at the extremes of reproduction.

• Explain the strategies to address cholestasis in pregnancy.

• Classify the management of monochorionic twin gestations in pregnancy.

• Assess the role of treatment options for vasa previa.
