Mobile water treatment system refers to a water treatment equipment installed in a portable vehicle, such as a
truck, trailer, skid or transport container, and can be transported and delivered to the site where treated water
is required.
Mobile water treatment services are availed by various industries for short-term leases or long-term
outsourcing. Various end use industries, such as power & energy, oil & gas, pulp & paper, pharmaceutical, food
& beverage, etc., opt for mobile water treatment during emergency or pre-planned outages, plant
commissioning, delayed delivery of new plant equipment, capacity expansion and surged water demand, among
other emergency situations.
Mobile water treatment service providers offer different technologies, such as ion exchange resin, membranes,
filters, etc., which can be customized according to the demand of the customer. Moreover, they are also
provided on rental basis which allows end users to avail the services as per his/her requirements.
Mobile water treatment systems in the United States are used to treat both the surface as well as the ground
water. As a result, such services are extensively used during natural disasters where they provide safe potable
and non-potable drinking water. Moreover, energy requirements of mobile water treatment systems can be
fulfilled by sustainable sources, such as wind and sun, which are installed in the mobile fleet, and makes it
possible to produce potable water in areas which are difficult to reach or areas with scarce utility resources.

Mobile water desalination units can be easily transported to the site of demand, and can be deployed in water
stressed or drought stricken areas. Mobile water desalination fleets are generally based on RO membrane
technology, and are called Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Units.
Water produced from such units is free of 90-99.9% of the raw water's Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). The units
can also used for water treatment in industries, like power, energy, pharmaceutical, food & beverage,
semiconductor, etc., where high purity water is required.
Water crisis is a critical issue in the United States which necessitates the demand for mobile water desalination
units for treating wells, open resources, side and shore wells, sea and brackish water for emergency as well as
planned needs.

US Mobile Water Treatment Services to Surpass $ 550 Million by 2021
Increasing water quality issues, aging water infrastructure and growing public awareness regarding ill-effects ofdrinking contaminated water to drive United States mobile water treatment services market
According to TechSci Research report, “US Mobile Water Treatment Services Market By End User, CompetitionForecast & Opportunities, 2011-2021”, the US mobile water treatment services market is projected to cross $550 million by 2021. A wide array of factors anticipated to augment market growth during forecast periodinclude deteriorating water quality, aging water infrastructure and favorable government policies. Moreover, increasing water shortage and rising industrialization are few other major factors anticipated to positivelyinfluence mobile water treatment services market in the US over the next five years.
United States desalination industry is projected to increase from US$ 99.7 million in 2012 to US$ 1727.4 millionby 2018. Anticipated growth in water desalination is expected to propel demand for mobile water treatmentservices in the country over the next five years. Mobile desalination units are immensely useful in water stressedareas or in adverse conditions such as hurricane affected areas. In addition, increasing water footprint coupledwith rising repair requirements of water infrastructure is expected to further boost demand for mobile watertreatment services in the country during forecast period.
South-East region dominates the country’s mobile water treatment services market on account of increasing oilrefining and power production activities. Major mobile water treatment service companies operating in the USinclude GE Water & Process Technologies, Evoqua Water Technologies LLC and Veolia North America. “Energy &power; oil & gas; pharmaceutical; pulp & paper; chemical processing; and mining & mineral processing are themajor demand generators formobile water treatment services in the US. In 2015, energy & power accounted forthe lion’s share in the country’s mobile water treatment services market, and the sector is anticipated tocontinue its dominance over the next five years.” said Mr. Karan Chechi, Research Director with TechSciResearch, a research based global management consulting firm.
