    INTRODUCTION

    Data in this section provide a summary of all USAF combat andflying support squadrons.

    The tables contain data reflecting number and kind of squadrons;type of aircraft or missiles; command of assignment; deployment by geo-graphical area; and combat readiness of squadrons, aircraft, missiles,aircrews and launch crews.

    FUNCTIONS

    The Forces have the following primary tasks:

    STRATEGIC OFFENSIVE Long-range weapons delivery.

    STRATEGIC DEFENSIVE Defending against enemy aerospace attack.
