Well we saw April as a total washout. What a shame. I had planned to do several training patrols along with Hap, that didn’t happen. However, Hap is scheduling to conduct training patrols beginning the first of May. For all of you in need of recertification please contact Hap ASAP so he is able to start this daunting project and have it over with much before year’s end and NOT wait till last minute. On another note, have you started or completed the mandatory on-line training courses. This is a requirement and must be completed before the end of 2015. They are not difficult and can be fun to do; you’ll be surprised as to what you don’t know. I hope you all have seen the announcement for Kidde fire extinguisher recalls, please check the list and then check your own extinguishers for possible recalls. National Safe Boating Week is coming up, and the Mayor of Georgetown will issue a proclamation in support of National Safe Boating Week. This will take place at Georgetown City Hall, 21 May, 17:30 Representatives of Flotilla 12-10 will be in attendance. If you would like to attend, please wear tropical Blues. I attended the Division meeting in Monks Corner, along with several other members of 12-10. Our own John Murphy, DCDR conducted the meeting which was very informative, it was nice meeting the other flotilla members, the new location is just fine with lots of amenities, and you really don’t need a GPS to get there!! I wish you would consider coming along at the next meeting in July. I hope May is a better month and we can get on the water and do some productive training.

In Freedom, Friendship and Charity,

Ed Wozniak, Jr.

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

Meeting called to order at 1904 by Ed Wozniak, Flotilla Commander. Hap James led the Pledge of Allegiance and Ed Wozniak gave the Invocation. A motion to approve the minutes of the March meeting was made by Kerry Williams and seconded by John Murphy. The motion was passed. Finance Report: Sue Hastings gave the financial report. Flotilla Commander Comments: Ed Wozniak, Flotilla Commander, that the Division Meeting on April 18 will be held at Moncks Corner. Any members that would like to attend are welcome and we can car pool. Vice Flotilla Commander Comments: Hap James, Vice Flotilla Commander, checked to see if any of the members had taken the APC class since the last meeting. Also reminded members that we need to do the eight mandatory classes. He did not do the uniform check but plans to do so at the next meeting. Your uniform needs to be pressed, don’t need to do the creases. Kiddie has recalled fire extinguishers and there is a list which he passed out. Hap urged members to get their boats ready for the season. Flotilla Staff Officer Reports: FSO-IS – Sue Hastings reported that she would be doing training on forms at the next meeting. FSO-OP – Hap James talked about fire extinguishers on boats. Also discussed training for new people for crew and members needing to recertify. Hap stated that they would start out in classroom and then go out on the boats. FSO-PA – Bill Unger discussed upcoming events. Some of them he has asked 12-4 for assistance as many of the 12-10 members are involved in teaching a class or other events. DDSL – Division 12/ Flotilla 12-10 – Vito Giardina reported that Page 5 authorization form for new member packages needs to be attached. All forms need to be signed in blue ink except for the fingerprint cards. FSO-PV – Karl Gettmann thanked Chuck Budnick for two more units for the storage room. We need to set up time to clean up the shelves, make labels, etc. Also needs more involvement in program visitors by the members. FSO-VE – Kerry Williams has one event schedule for the Reserve. The Heritage will be done by Power Squadron as one of their members is a member of the Power Squadron. FSO-CM – Chuck Budnick reported that Hap is working on Watchstanding at Station. For your information, the current and projected dues are summarized below:

National Dues $12 $24 – note: this is a 100% increase

District 7 Dues $7 $9 – a 22% increase

Division 12 Dues $7 $7

Subtotal $26 $40

Flotilla 12-10 Dues $9 $10 – to be discussed and voted on at the May meeting

Total Dues $35 $50

Information Services - Sue Hastings, FSO-IS The forms training I expected to do will be postponed. If you have any questions on completing a form, please let me know. Some members have been experiencing problems with the 7030/7039/7048 email forms. If you have a problem, either scan the form or send me an email with the information. It is important to get this turned in and entered into AUXDATA in a timely manner.

Materials – Karin Hollar, FSO-MA No materials were ordered during April as I did not receive any requests. Please let me know prior to our May 6 meeting if you need stamps or envelopes. I will place another request for Coloring Books which have been a stock out item for the past several months.

Member Training – Reggie Hollar, FSO-MT

Plans were made in April to facilitate the Sexual Harassment Prevention Class at our May Flotilla meeting. This is one of the mandated courses that all Auxiliarists must take. As the year progresses, more of the required classes will be facilitated at our flotilla meetings.

When members feel they are ready the QE will be requested by the FC. Any member wanting to become certified for boat crew is also welcome to join us. Contact me at 314- 3850 or 696-3887 on Cell. Uniform now is ODU but we will go to Summer uniform as the weather warms up. Be sure you have an Aux t shirt that is not faded and makes a good presentation to the public. Time to get one is now!! White CREW SOCKS.

Public Education – Vito Giardina, FSO-PE The ABS class held on Saturday, April 25 was another success. We had a total of ten participants, six were from IOP, Moncks Corner and Mt. Pleasant. We also had one of 14-s members, Jeff Nauert sit in for the class. Thanks to Reggie Hollar, Rick Bankert and Chuck Budnick for their outstanding presentations. I expect to have another class in Mid-June.
