SCOPE AND CLASSIFICATION 1.1 Scope. This specification covers two types of two-component, elastomeric, cold-applied, jet-fuel- and jet-blast-resistant sealing compounds for use in sealing joints and cracks in portland cement concrete pavement. Certain sealants require a primer to produce satisfactory adhesion (see 3. 2. 3). Machine appl ication will require specialized equipment desi gnated for the specific formulation, for satisfactory application (see 3.3.1). 1.2 Classification. The sealants shall be of the following types (see 6.2): Type M - Machine application, fast curing Type H - Hand mixed, retarded cure 2. 3. REQUIREMENTS

volume of the sealant when exposed to 70°C (158°F) for 168 hours shall note x c e e d 5 . 0 p e r c e n t , w h e n t h e s e a l a n t i s t e s t e d a s s p e c i f i e d i n 4 . 4 . 8 .

3 . 4 . 5 R e s i l i e n c e . Recovery shal l be a minimum of 75.0 percent , when the

s e a l a n t i s t e s t e d a s s p e c i f i e d i n 4 . 4 . 9 . T h e i n i t i a l p e n e t r a t i o n s h a l l n o texceed 2.0 mm (0.079 inch) and shall not be less than 0.5 mm (0.020 inch).
