• Unique or High Volume Admixtures: retarder at a dosage rate range of 6-10 oz per hundred weight; high range water reducer at a 4 oz per hundred weight

• Describe unique mix designs: The ODOT Class 4000 HPC (IC) which uses 300 lbs per cubic yard of a high absorption, light weight fine aggregate to allow internal curing of the HPC bridge deck. This was the very first project in the state to use this light weight fine aggregate mixture. In addition there was the standard ODOT Class 4000 HPC for the impact panels and an ODOT Class 4000 structural concrete.
• Describe unique specifications/requirements (flatness, color, etc.): ODOT Class 4000 HPC(IC) was a unique design due to never using the ultra-light weight fine aggregate in a mix design in the state before
• Describe placement challenges or unique techniques: Due to the remote location and pouring in the summer months lots of planning and communication was needed to ensure that the concrete mixtures arrived within ODOT specifications.
• Describe other special technical aspects: The ODOT Class 4000 HPC(IC) had some very unique requirements due to the ultra-light weight fine aggregate that was sourced and delivered from Utah. The fine aggregate had to be over-saturated for 7 days then allow 2 days for drain down prior to the pour date while running moisture's using a centrifuge to determine total moisture content
