    An Urgent Appeal

    To All

    Seventh Day Adventists

    Thus saith the Lord,

Incline your ear, and come unto Me: hear, and your soul shall live. I will

make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. (Isaiah

55:1-3) Yea, Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while

    He is near; (Isaiah 55:6).

The Lord declares, For Zions sake will I not hold My peace, and for

Jerusalems sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as

brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. And the Gentiles shall

see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and they shall be called by a new

name. Thy shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal

diadem in the hand of the God. (Isaiah 62: 1-3)

    A Pure & Triumphant Church

O Man/Woman of wisdom, it is not by chance that this Urgent Appeal has crossed

your path at this late hour of Christs investigative judgment of the livingbelievers that is now

being completed in the heavenly sanctuary. Christ, Himself, has personally sought you out to

know and hear His Voice so you can get ready for the special work of purification beforeHis angels are sent to remove the tares from among the wheat as foretold in the prophecy of

Malachi 3: 1-6, Matthew 13:49 and Ezekiel 9: 1-14. Hear and L ive declares our LORD!

For Zions sake will I not hold My peace and for Jerusalems sake I will not rest,

unti l the righteous thereof go for th as bri ghtness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that

burneth. And the Genti les shal l see thy r ighteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shall

be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shal l name. Thou shalt also be a

crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.Isaiah

    62: 1-3

Wonder of divine love! Fruition of the exceeding precious promise that God will

continue speaking unto her [His Church] until she become a great and powerful and resplendent

light in all the world and a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord the church is seen standing

with the Lamb on Mount Sion!(JezreelThe True Witness)

Face to face with this solemn certainty, each one, therefore, who seeks an inheritanceon high [must] maintain the strictest integrity and openness of mind to hearken this FINALROLL CALLthat will seal Christs 144,000 servants who shall stand with Him on Mount

Sion! Indeed, once the special work of purification of Gods church is complete, then the

churchat His coming declared in Malachi 3:1-6 will be a glorious church, not having spot, orwrinkle, or any such thing: then she will look forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as

the sun, and terrible as an army with banners. Clad in the armor of Christs righteousness, the

church is to enter her final conflict she is togo forth into all the world, conquering and toconquer. (The Great Controversy pg. 425 and Prophet and Kings pg. 725)

Brother, Sister, mark the italicized words: not having spot, Her final conflict; going

forth into all the world; conquering and to conquer. These statementsemphasis a pure &

triumphant church, perfected by a special work of purification which must take place before the

work of the gospel is finished in any part of the world. (JezreelThe True Witness).

Take heed to the life-saving fact that the sealing of the 144,000 is of vital concern to your

salvation, it calls for a decided action from the ministry and laity alike to separate themselves

from all worldliness and to anchor themselves on the solid rock of obedience to all the truth

known to the Church if one would escape the forthcoming ruin that is to take every sinner fromwithin her ranks. (JezreelHosea 2:1-13The True Witness)

    Cut out of the Mountain

This Voice that crieth unto you through the spirit and pen of Micah 6:9 is the same

Voice that foretold the prophecy to Daniel whereby confirmingthat a Stone would be cut

out of the Mountain [Gods last day Church] without hands, which will become a great Mountain

[a glorious Kingdom Church]. Indeed, this Voice

that pleads with you is the Voiceof Christ callingforth His 144,000 servants, the First Fruits that He

will use to establish His everlasting Kingdom and

fulfill all the covenant promises made by Jehovah to

His ancient people. (Patriarchs and Prophets pg. 714).

Review prophecy of Isaiah 2: 2-4.

Brother, Sister, put on thy strength, put on

thy beautiful garments, Christ is calling you to be

numbered among the 144,000, the Elect of God; yea,

to be a vessel of mercy that He may make knownunto you the riches of His glory which He hath afore

prepared unto glory. (Romans 9:21-23 and Isaiah 52: 1-12) --Inspiration through the pen of

prophetess Ellen G. White verified the 144,000sexistence and circumstances in her first vision

given by our Redeemer in Early Writings pages 14,15:

I turned to look for the Advent people in the world, but could not find them, when a

voice said to me, Look again, and look a little higher. Atthis I raised my eyes, and saw a

straight and narrow path, cast up high above the world. On this path the Advent people were

traveling to the city, which was at the farther end of the path. They had a bright light set upbehind them at the beginning of the path, which an angel told me was the midnight cry. This light

shone all along the path and gave light for their feet so that they might not stumble. If they kept

their eyes fixed on Jesus, who was just before them, leading them to the city, they were safe. But

soon some grew weary, and said the city was a great way off, and they expected to have entered

it before. Then Jesus would encourage them by raising His glorious right arm, and from His arm

came a light which waved over the Advent band, and they shouted, Alleluia! Others rashly

denied the light behind them and said that it was not God that had led them out so far. The light

behind them went out, leaving their feet in perfect darkness, and they stumbled and lost sight of

the mark and of Jesus, and fell off the path down into the dark and wicked world below. Soon we

heard the voice of God like many waters, which gave us the day and hour of Jesus coming. The

living saints, 144,000 in number, knew and understood the voice, while the wicked thought it was

thunder and an earthquake. The 144,000 were all sealed and perfectly united. On their

foreheads was written, God, New Jerusalem, and a glorious star containing Jesus new name.

Christs Final Roll CallJohn 10: 1-5

This FINAL ROLL CALL is our Redeemers extended hand of

mercy opening before you a portal that you may have Lightcast upon

your path so that you are able to quickly obtain Golden Oil that will

prepare you to receive the Seal of God for entrance into His sooncoming Kingdom (John 10:1-5); there is no time to waste, not a

moment with urgency COME NOW, HEAR AND LIVE!

Prophetess Ellen G. White shines a flicker of Light upon Christs portal by which He

is personally communicating with His Wise & Faithful Servants as found in Christ Object

As Christ sat looking upon the party that waited for theLessons pp. 406-411 quote:

bridegroom, He told His disciples the story of the ten virgins, by their experience illustrating the

experience of the church that shall live just before His second coming. --- The two classes of

watchers represent the two classes who profess to be waiting for their Lord. They are called

virgins because they profess a pure faith. By the lamps is represented the word of God. Thepsalmist says, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Ps. 119:105.The oil

is a symbol of the Holy Spir it. Thus the Spir it is represented in the prophecy of Zechari ah.

You ask, what does this referenced prophecy of Zechariah have to do with you obtainingthis Golden Oil to personally know and hear the Voice of Christ and be prepared to receive

the Seal of God, yea, to be numbered among the Wise/Elect who will be redeemed from

among men, being the first fruits unto God and to the Lambas declared in Revelation 14: 1-5.

Before answering this wise question, we mustunderstand that Gods salvation for the House of

Jacob and all the remnantof the House of Israel isfound within the writing of the Old Testamentprophecies. Divine promises of the establishment of

His Everlasting Kingdom that have yet to be fulfilled

even such the prophecy of Ezekiel 37: 15-28.

    Inspiration affirms:

Sacred history shows that the prophets in thefirst division [Jewish period] received the Word

directly from God through the medium of His Spirit.

They were not obliged to prove any part of theirprophecies by the writings of the preceding prophets.

Whereas the prophets in the second division

[Christian period] are appointed by the unction of the

Spirit to interpret the writings of the prophets of thefirst division. This all-important distinction and

division shows that the Old Testament Scriptures contain the light of our salvation for both

periodsJewish and Christian. And when one considers that the former period is called thetypical dispensation, and the latter the anti-typical then evidence upon evidence rivets the

conclusion that the New Testament gospel is based on the gospel of the Old unfolded.Sincethe Scriptures explain that the church in all ages has been led into the truth through the gift of

prophecy, the Christian has no choice but to conclude that Gods will and plan for this time isjust as it was for times past; that is, that the knowledge of salvation be imparted through the

writings of the Old Testament prophets, as interpreted by those upon whom, as the scroll unfolds,

He bestows the same Spirit by which He moved upon Holy men of God in old time. 2 Peter1:21. For I am the Lord, I change not, therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

are thereby compelled to give earnest heed to the pleadings of the Holy SpiritTHUS, we

concerning private interpretation of the Scripture as written in the gospel of 2 Peter 1:19,20.

    Quote:

We have also a more sure word of prophecy, whereunto ye do well that ye take heed,

as unto a light that shinneth in a dark place, unti l the day dawn, and the day star ari se in your

hearts. Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation.

Christs Portal of Communcation in these Last Days

Brother, Sister, the fourth chapter of Zechariah is a pictorial disclosure of the Portalbywhich to obtain the Golden Oil; thePortalby which our Redeemer is personally

communicating with His wise servants today (Matthew 24:45). Our Redeemer is in process of

fulfilling all promises concerning the House of Jacob and the establishment of His Everlasting

Kingdom. What may be to your surprise, it is not the identifiable Jews that have occupied theland of Israel since May 1948.

You must avail yourself of the understanding of Zechariah Four to obtain the Golden

Oil that is needed to know and hear Christs True Voice so that you mayclearly see the path

and be able to refuse the evil, and choose the good and be safely lead into Gods everlasting

    Kingdom as declared in Daniel 2: 19-23, 28-35, 44, 45 and Haggai 2: 20-23.

Gods call of His First Fruits Revelation 14: 1-5

Christs divine method of communication with them

Establishing the time to which this figurative prophecy points, the Lord, speaking through

the prophet Haggai, who prophesied at the same time as did the prophet Zechariah, says:

And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the

kingdoms of the heathen; and I wil l over thr ow the chariots, and those that r ide in them; and

the horses and their r iders shal l come down, every one by the sword of h is brother. I n that day,

saith the Lord of hosts, I wil l take thee, O Zerubbael, M y servant, the son Shealti el, saith the

Lord, and wi ll make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord of hosts.Haggai

    Page | 9

Meeting its fulfillment at the end of the world, when God is to overthrow the thrones and

destroy the kingdoms of the earth, Haggais prophecy shows that Zerubbabel, the Lords servant,

is a type of His servants today, who necessarily, therefore, are the antiypical signet. And as

Zechariahs vision, moreover, has never been understood until now (1936), it can be speaking

directly only to us at this time. Since, accordingly, his illustration of the Word of the Lord unto

Zerubbabel is to find its fulfillment today, we ought then to give the most studious attention as

    I nspiration Explains The Symbolism.

This is the Word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel. Zech. 4:6. The method which God is to

use now, in the time of the end, in communicating with Zerubbabel the governors or ministers

So let us carefully decipher it symbol by symbol.of His peopleis laid down in the symbolism.

When we understand the meaning of the olive trees, the candlestick, the golden bowl, and

the tubes, then the symbolism itself will without controversy explain how the Scriptures, by

which God communicates with His servants, are to be interpreted.

As all the books of the Bible meet and end in the Revelation, which is an unfolding ofthe prophecies, we call the readers attention to a passage therein, in which John records the

    office of these olive trees:

And I will give power unto My two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two

hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees, and the two

candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. Rev. 11:3, 4.

These olive trees are called witnesses, anointed ones, prophets. They were to

prophesy in sackcloth for the space of forty-two months. This is a period equivalent to that inDaniel 7:25 and Revelation 12:14; that is, to a time and times and the dividing of time: a

time one year; times two years; half a time half a year;forty-two months in total. It is

equivalent also to that in Revelation 13:5, forty and two months; and to that in Revelation12:6, a thousand two hundred and threescore days. In each instance, the time, reckoning by the

Biblical rule of thirty days to a month, amount to 1260 days.

When computed in literal time, according to Ezekiel 4:6, these 1260 days of prophetictime are equivalent to 1260 years. Proceeding on the well established fact that this period of time

is prophetic of the 1260 years from 538 A.D. to 1798, we are brought to the consequent

conclusion that whosoever or whatsoever prophesied in sackcloth during this period, is thatwhich is symbolized by these two olive trees.

The fact that nothing but the Bible Itself did prophesy for the duration of the 1260 year

period, the Dark Ages of religion, automatically shows that the two olive trees, which theangel said are the Word of God (Zech. 4:6), are figurative of the Old and New Testament

Scriptures prophesying in sackcloth. In other words, they permitted themselves in self-

abasement to be tucked away and left unstudied, although they had power to devour theirenemies, and even to shut heaven, that it rain not.

And from these two trees (Testaments), as Zechariah saw, the golden oil runs through

two golden pipes, which empty themselves into the golden bowl. Then from the bowl, the

seven pipes, or tubes, in turn supply the golden candlesticks with the golden oil.

    Page | 10

As the two olive trees stand for the Old and New Testament Scriptures, naturally thegolden oil flowing from them represents the Word of the Lord in the Christian dispensation,

not as it comes directly from heaven, but as it comes from the Bible.

Unlocking next the meaning of the candlestick, Christ (in revealing the mystery which Heshowed unto John), says: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven

candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.Rev. 1:20.

In this brief explanatory statement, Christ tells us that the seven churches are represented

by the seven candlesticks, thus establishing the truth that a candlestick is symbolical of the

churchthe light of the world (Matt. 5:14).

The first part of Revelation 1:20, as already quoted, makes clear that there is an attending

angel to each candlestick, and that John was instructed to write, not to the candlesticks, but to the

angels who have charge over them. Thus the words, unto the angel of the church of the

Laodiceans write(Rev. 3:14), make clear that it is the angel who is wretched, and miserable,

and poor, and blind, and naked.

This condemnation conclusively shows that the angel is not a heavenly being, but merelya figure of the earthly overseers who have been given charge over the church (candlestick). Theirduty, as the symbolism reveals, is to supply the candlestick with oil, and to keep it trimmed and

burninggiving light. Consequently, the candlestick itself symbolizes the membership exclusive

    of the leadership.

In Zechariahs vision, however, the ministers are represented, not by seven angels, but

by seven tubes. They get the oil from the bowl, and feed it to the candlestick.

Clearly, then, the bowl in which the golden oil is stored, symbolizes the storehouse of

Present Truththe Word interpreted. The only storehouse that contains inspired comments on

both Testaments is the books of the Spirit of Prophecy. They, therefore, are the golden bowl. The symbolism definitely points out that from them the ministers must get the light-producing

truth with which to supply the church, so that it may brightly shine in this dark world, drawing to

the light all men who hate the darkness.

The two pipes through which the oil is carried into the bowl, can represent only the

channels (prophets) through whom the oil is transferred from the Bible into the bowl, in theperiod during which both olive trees (Old and New Testaments) livethe Christian era.

Let the reader take a searching look at the above (page 8) visual illustration of ZechariahFour, and he will see the utter impossibility of the candlesticks (the church membership) and of

the tubes (ministers) themselves extracting oil directly from the olive trees. The interpretationof the Scriptures, therefore, being entrusted to the two pipes (prophets) in the Christian era, itshows that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation ,but is ofinspiration only.

Now, to clinch forever in our minds the truth on this all-important subject, let us view it in a

    Summary of Zechariah Four.

This symbolic unit, having demonstrated that the Bible can be rightly interpreted only bythe Spirit that dictated It, shows that the church can be led into all Truth only by this Spirit-

controlled method: through the interpreters (the two golden pipes), who alone are qualified and

enabled to bring forth meat in due season (golden oil) from the Scriptures (olive trees) into thestorehouse (golden bowl) of Present Truth; and in turn through the ministers (seven tubes), who

alone are to pass on from the bowl the oil to the church (candlestick), that it might illumine withthe light of life this dark and dying world of ours.

Here in pictorial lesson God is unmistakably teaching that He controls the Scriptures and

that He reveals them when a need arises, just as Joseph controlled all the grain in the storehouses

of ancient Egypt, to hand it out in the time of famine. And as only through him could theIsraelites, as well as the Egyptians, obtain grain in time of want,

so likewise only from Christ, the King, through His Spirit-filled

instrumentalitiesJosephs (His specially appointed interpretersof the dreams and the visions which the Bible contains, whether

they be to rebuke and enlighten the church or to forewarn the

Gentiles)can we obtain the oil which God has placed in theBible.

In revealing through Zechariahs symbolism the inspired method of interpretation of theScriptures, God has graphically prescribed, for the present-day multifarious religious ills,

    Heavens Specific Remedy.

The many grievous spiritual epidemics now afflicting the Christian church, are caused in

large part by Christians unwittingly wresting, garbling, and perverting the Scriptures. This

practice, the Devil has spawned and nurtured in order to head off Present Truth, destroy faith in

the Scriptures, deceive souls, and increase infidelity, hoping thereby to cut off the human race

from the knowledge of the only true and living God, and thus finally from the face of the earth.

Brother, Sister, upon each of us squarely falls the momentous responsibility of deciding

whether we will choose to follow the prophets of God in both the Old and New Testament

periods, or to join Gods adversaries who advocate uninspired interpretations of the Scriptures,

and who along with all their sympathizers will, if they continue in their evil course, become

guilty, with the Jews, of the shed blood of the prophets. (JezreelTrue Witness). --- Please take

heed to Gods warning, do not turn a deaf ear to this Voice and be found among the

foolish virgins who will soon be left out and suffer complete destruction with the tares.

    The Church Must Be Purified

No Christian of any faith can honestly deny the churchs need of purification. And as the

Lord never does anything without forewarning His church , He is now sending to her themessage of purification, in order to give her a foretaste of future glory, so that as heavens

clarion call to reformation continues sounding forth among His people, they may have a keen

relish for its truth, and may give themselves wholeheartedly to the work of reform, right now

while He is clearly laying before them His plan for the setting up of His kingdom withconsequent results to the sinners. Those who give implicit heed to the call, shall have an

irresistible desire to come fully into line and to have the Lord separate them from sin and sinners.

They alone shall receive the seal of God and as the first fruits of the kingdom, 144,000 strong, stand with the Lamb on Mount Zion!

Such a state of holiness will today, just as in the past, cause the dragon to be wroth with

the woman, also now to make war with her remnant (Rev. 12:17), a conflict which is furtherdescribed in the words:

I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth [at the time of the sealing

of the 144,000], holding the four winds of the earth that the wind shoul d not blow on the

earth , nor on the sea, nor on any tr ee. And I saw another angel ascending f rom the east,

having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it

was given to hurt the earth and the sea, saying, Hur t not the earth , neither the sea, nor the

trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.Rev. 7:1-3.

  • 7/25/2019 Urgent Appeal to All Seventh Day Adventist

    13/25

    Page | 13

Here are brought to view two hurtings about to take place: one by the winds, the other bythe angels; and two commands to the angels: one that they restrain the winds, that the winds

blow not on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree (Rev. 7:1); the other that the angelsrestrain themselves from hurting the earth, sea, and the trees, till the servants of God are

sealed. Rev. 7:2, 3). Since, therefore, as soon as the

servants of God are sealed both the winds and the angelswill begin to hurt the question arises as to what the work

of the winds and the work of the angels represent political strife or something else? As the nations havealways been at war, this two-fold work of hurting could

not represent political strife. And as Jesus says that at the

time of the end nation shall rise against nation, and

kingdom against kingdom (Matt. 24:7), it is clear that thehurting by the winds, also the hurting by the angels both of which are kept back until the 144,000

are sealed, must be figurative of holding back the time of trouble, such as never was sincethere was a nation.Dan. 12:1. Accordingly, Gods restraining of the four winds is His holdingback the image of the beasts activity(Rev. 13:15-17) against the saints, while His restraining the

    four angels that they hurt not is His holding back the executing of His vengeance (Isa. 63:1-4;

Jer. 51:18) upon the sinners who trouble the church, until after the sealing of the 144,000 iscompleted. Being coupled, these two hurtings bring the time of trouble such as never was.Revelation 7:1-3, therefore, reveals a two-fold conflict: wicked men against God (the blowing of

the winds) and God against them (the angels hurting them). But though the blowing of the winds

and the hurting of the angels after the servants of God are sealed, will bring the time of trouble,

yet every one that shall be found written in the book shall be delivered.Dan. 12:1.

From these facts we see that this time of trouble is held back in order to safeguard thesealing of the 144,000 servants, lest they, the very elect, be brought down to worship the image

of the beast, or be killed for refusing.

Since in the Revelation all the books of the Bible meet and end (The Acts of theApostles, p. 585), the sealing of the servants of God (Rev. 7) must necessarily be found also in

the prophecies. In Ezekiel, chapter nine, is envisioned the marking of those who sigh and cry

for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof(in Judah and in Israel), and the

slaughter of those who do not thus sigh and cry. And the fact that God has at no time taken the

sinners from among the righteous in Judah and in Israel, shows that this prophecy of purification

by slaughter has never been fulfilled. So, therefore, as the marking is the same as the sealing,

the angels slaying is the same as the angels hurting.

This hurting and sealing which John saw, and the slaughter and marking which Ezekielsaw are again identified as one and the same: This sealing of the servants of God is the same

that was shown to Ezekiel in vision. Testimonies to Ministers, p. 445; Testimonies, Vol. 5, p.211; Vol. 3, p. 267.

Although the marking and the slaughter (Ezek. 9) include only the church, Judah and

Israel, the hurting by the winds and the hurting by the angels (Rev. 7) include all the world both the earth and the sea, each of which is indicative of a different locality: the sea, in the

realm of nature the storehouse (home) of the waters, is therefore in the realm of symbols the

birth-place of the nations the Old Country, the earth, the opposite of the sea, iscorrespondingly a domain away from the Old Country. It is located to John in the symbol of the

two-horned beasts coming up, not out of the sea, but out of the earth (Rev. 13:11), the only

place where trees naturally grow. And as according to Daniel 4:20-22, trees are figurative ofrulers, therefore the trees in this instance represent the ancient menbefore the house (Ezek.

9:6)a fact which reveals that in this period, the churchs headquarters are in the two-hornedbeasts dominion the New World, the earth. In the light of the clear cut facts before us, we

see that the main object of the sealing or marking of the servants of God is to cleanse the church

from sin and sinners, so that she may be able to stand strong against the image-beast in the timeof trouble; and that when this purifying work is completed, it shall come to pass that he that is

left i n Z ion, and he that remaineth i n Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that i swr itten among the living in Jerusalem: when the Lord shal l have washed away the fi lth of the

daughters of Zion, and shal l have purged the blood of Jerusalem fr om the midst thereof by the

spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.Isa. 4:3, 4.

When this special work of purification, of putting away of sin among Gods people, is

accomplished, then the church is to enter upon her final conflict. Fair as the moon, clear as the

sun and terrible as an army with banners, she is to go forth into all the world, conquering and to

conquer. The Great Controversy, p. 425; Prophets and Kings, p. 725.

And the Lord wil l create upon every dwell ing place of Mount Z ion, and upon her

assembli es, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a fl aming fi re by night: for upon allthe glory shal l be a defense. And there shal l be a tabernacle for a shadow in the day time fr om

the heat, and for a place of r efuge, and for a covert f rom storm and from rain. And they

shal l call them The holy people, The redeemed of the Lord: and thou shalt be call ed, Sought

    out, A city not forsaken.Isa. 4:5, 6; 62:12.

The entire church, acting as one, blending in perfect union, is to be a living, activemissionary agency, moved and controlled by the Holy Spirit. All that the apostles did, every

church-member today is to do. His workers will then see eye to eye, and the arm of the Lord,

the power of which was seen in the life of Christ, will be revealed. Testimonies, Vol. 8, p.47; Vol. 7, p. 33; Vol. 9, p. 33.

Then it shall come to pass, saith the Lord, that I will sanctify My great name, which

was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them, and the

heathen shal l know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctif ied in you

before their eyes. For I wil l take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all

countr ies, and wil l br ing you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you,

and ye shall be clean: fr om all your fi lth iness, and from all your idols, wil l I cleanse you. A

new heart also will I give you, and a new spir it wi ll I put within you: and I wil l take away the

stony heart out of your fl esh, and I wil l give you a heart of f lesh. And I wil l put M y Spir it

within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shal l keep My judgments, and do

them. And ye shal l dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shal l be My people,

and I wil l be your God. I wil l also save you f rom all your uncleannesses: and I wil l call for the

and the increase of the fi eld, that ye shal l receive no more reproach of f amine among the

heathen. Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good,

and shal l loathe yourselves in your own sight for your in iquit ies and for your abominations.

Not f or your sakes do I thi s, saith the Lord God, be it known unto you: be ashamed and

confounded for your own ways, O house of I srael. Thus saith the Lord God; I n the day that I

shal l have cleansed you f rom all your i niqui ties I wil l al so cause you to dwell in the cit ies, and

the wastes shal l be buil ded. Then the heathen that ar e left r ound about you shall know that I

the Lord bui ld the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the Lord have spoken i t,

    and I will do it.Ezek. 36:23-33, 36.

Again: In cleansingthe temple from the worlds buyers and sellers, Jesus announced His

mission, first, to cleanse the heart from the defilement of sin, from the earthly desires, the

selfish lusts, the evil habits, that corrupt the soul (TheDesire of Ages, p.161); and second, tocleanse the entire church from sin and sinners. As twice (once in the closing of John the Baptistsproclamation of the kingdom, and in the opening of the gospel dispensation, at the beginning of

Christs ministry, and once at the close of His work and at the opening of the apostles Special Testimonies to Ministers, No. 7, p. 54) He cleansed the temple from the unholy practices

by which the Jews had desecrated it (John 2:15 16; Matt. 21:12, 13), He thereby twice gave

warning in type that also in the closing of the Christian dispensation, He will twice cleanse His

church: once at the sealing of the first fruits the 144,000, and again at the sealing of the secondfruits, the great multitude. Rev. 7:1-9.

Since both of these cleansings, moreover, took place at the feast of the Passover, andsince, too, all who had not sanctified themselves sufficiently (2 Chron. 30:3; Ex. 12:3-6) were

forbidden to participate in the Passover in the first month, but were permitted to prepare for it

and to celebrate it in the second month (Num. 9-11; 2 Chron. 30:13), thereby is typified thepurification of the church in two sections, thus showing still

again that there are two gatherings, two sealings, two

separations, two companies first fruits and second fruits.

There must be, says the Spirit of Prophecy, a cleansing ofthe institutions similar to Christs cleansing of the temple of

old. It is written, saith the Lord, My house shall be called a

house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of thieves. Thereare in our institutions today transactions similar to those that

took place in the temple courts in Christs time; and all heaven

is looking on. The Lord will work to purify His church. I

tell you in truth, the Lord is about to turn and overturn in

the institutions called by His name. Just how soon this

refining process will begin, I cannot say, but it will not be long

deferred. He Whose fan is in His hand will cleanse His templeof its moral defilement. He will thoroughly purge His floor. Brethren in Responsible

    Positions, Sept. 1895.

In parabolical preview of the purification of the church, Christ declared: the angels

shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just (Matt.13:49) take away the

wicked and leave the good; whereas in The Revelation, addressing His own in Babylon, He says:Come out of her My people (Rev. 18:4) calling the righteous out and leaving the wicked in.

The former are purified by the wicked being cast out from among them; the latter, by their being

taken out from among the wicked.

Also there are two distinct parables of the talents (Matt. 25:15-30; Luke 19:13-27), both

of which pointedly enter the picture in its present setting. In the one, are three servants; in theother, ten servants. This significant difference shows that the former has only a local application,

whereas the latter has a world-wide application (incidentally showing that in the Scriptures,

number ten stands for universality, and number three for the Trinity in the church.)

These unalterable truths of type and parable and the word of His testimony, bring us

face to face with the solemn reality that we are come to the time of the antitypical passover and

cleansing of the temple, and to the harvest of the world, the great and dreadful day of theLord. The Spirit of God bids us with awful solemnity, Get ready! get ready! get ready!

for the fierce anger of the Lord is soon to come. His wrath is to be

poured out, unmixed with mercy, and ye are not ready. Rend the

heart, and not the garment. Early Writings, p. 119.

O let no one be misled into thinking that after the close of

probation, or after the second coming of Christ (after the sinners in

the world have been destroyed), Gods church shall attain to the

exalted standard of character, and to the high office, appointed ofheaven, and be purified from sin and sinners! On the contrary, in

that day(before the sinners in the world have been destroyed), says

the Lord, will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all

people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the

earth be gathered together against it. In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of

Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house ofDavid shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them. And it shall come to pass in

that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come again st Jerusalem. In that

day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD; and the

pots in the Lords house shall be like the bowls before the altar. Yea, every pot in

Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the Lord of hosts: and all they that sacrifice

shall come and take of them, and seethe therein: and in that day there shall be no more theCanaanite in the house of the Lord of hosts.Zech. 12:3, 8, 9; 14:20, 21.

These verses expressly declare that the church will be as God, as the angel of the Lord

before them, during the time of trouble, when the nations shall gather against her and the Lord

in vengeance shall then smite them. Probation still lingering while this sequence of events takesplace, all they that sacrifice (pray & worship the Lord in truth) (an act which is performed

before the close of probation) shall therefore be holy, and there shall beno more the Canaanite

in the house of the Lord.

Every true Bible student knows that the church must reach this purity of heart and

character and position, not after, but before, Christs mediatorial work is finished and before thesacrifice has ceased. All such students know also that God can neither manifest His great

power to defend them in the time in which all the people of the earth gather together against

them, nor bestow His Spirit upon them as He did upon the early Christians on the day of

Pentecost, if there are sinners among His people, and if the entire church be not with oneaccord (Acts 2:1), clad in the armor of Christs righteousness Fair as the moon, clear as the

sun, and terrible as an army with banners as was the apostolic church, upon which theSpirit descended as a rushing mighty wind. Acts 2:2.

Only those, says the Spirit of Prophecy, who have withstood and overcome

temptation through the strength of the Mighty One will be permitted to act a part in proclaiming

this message when it shall have swelled into the Loud Cry. Review and Herald, Nov. 19,1908.

And that the Loud Cry fail not to sound on time or at all, those who do not overcome, those who had betrayed their trust, the ancient men those to whom God had given great

light, and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people , must be

removed. This is forcibly set forth by the prophets illustration of the last work under the figure

of the men each having a slaughter weapon in his hand. Testimonies, Vol. 3, p. 266. Men,maidens, and little children, all perish together. Id., Vol. 5, p. 211.

Confronted with the towering certainty of the churchs imminent purification, sealing,

and subsequent glory, we hasten to face the

Churchs Condition Just Before The Purification.

What greater deception can come upon human minds than a confidence that they areright, when they are all wrong! The message of the True Witness finds the people of God in a sad

deception, yet honest in that deception. They know not that their condition is deplorable in the

sight of God. While those addressed are flattering themselves that they are in an exalted spiritual

condition, the message of the True Witness breaks their security by the startling denunciation oftheir true condition of spiritual blindness, poverty, and wretchedness. The testimony, so cutting

and severe, cannot be a mistake, for it is the True Witness who speaks, and his testimony must be

    correct. Testimonies, Vol. 3, pp. 252, 253.

Who can truthfully say, Our gold is tried in the fire; our garments are unspotted by the

world? I saw our Instructor pointing to the garments of so-called righteousness. Stripping them

off, He laid bare the defilement beneath. Then He said to me: Can you not see how they havepretentiously covered up their defilement and rottenness of character, How is the faithful city

become an harlot? My Fathers house is made a house of merchandise, a place whence the

divine presence and glory have departed! For this cause there is weakness, and strength islacking. Testimonies, Vol. 8, p. 25O.

The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light, and who had stood as

guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust. These dumb dogs, that would not bark, are the ones who feel the just vengeance of an offended God. Men, maidens

and little children, all perish together. Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 211.

It is difficult for those who feel secure in their attainments, and who believe themselves

to be rich in spiritual knowledge, to receive the message which declares that they are deceivedand in need of every spiritual grace. The unsanctified heart is deceitful above all things, and

    desperately wicked. Testimonies, Vol. 3, p. 253.

There are many who do not have the discretion of Joshua, and who have no special dutyto search out wrongs, and to deal promptly with the sins existing among them. Let not such

hinder those who have the burden of this work upon them; let them not stand in the way of thosewho have this duty to do. Some make it a point to question, and doubt, and find fault, because

others do the work that God has not laid upon themselves. These stand directly in the way to

hinder those upon whom God has laid the burden of reproving and correcting prevailing sins, that his frown may be turned away from his people. Should a case like Achans be among us,

there are many who would accuse those who might act the part of Joshua in searching out thewrong, of having a wicked, fault-finding spirit. God is not to be trifled with, and his warningsdisregarded with impunity by a perverse people.

Gods displeasure is upon his people, and he will not manifest his power in the midst of

them while sins exist among them, and are fostered by those in responsible positions

Those who work in the fear of God to rid the church of hindrances, and to correct

grievous wrongs, that the people of God may see the necessity of abhorring sin, and may prosper

in purity, and that the name of God may be glorified, will ever meet with resisting influencesfrom the unconsecrated. Zephaniah thus describes the true state of this class, and the terrible

judgments that will come upon them: And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will searchJerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees; that say in their heart,

The Lord will not do good, neither will he do evil. The great day of the Lord is near, it is near,

and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the Lord; the mighty man shall cry there

bitterly. When a crisis finally comes, as it surely will, and God speaks in behalf of hispeople, those who have sinned, those who have been a cloud of darkness, and who have stood

directly in the way of Gods working for his people, may become alarmed at the length they have

gone in murmuring and in bringing discouragement upon the cause; and, like Achan, becomingterrified, they may acknowledge that they have sinned. But their confessions are too late, and are

not of the right kind to benefit themselves, although they may relieve the cause of God.Those who have been nearly all their lives controlled by a spirit as foreign to the Spirit of Godas was Achans, will be very passive when the time comes for decided action on the part of all.

They will not claim to be on either side. Testimonies, Vol. 3, pp. 270-272.

We have been inclined to thinkthat where there are no faithful ministers, there can beno true Christians; but this is not the case. God has promised that where the shepherds are not

true he will take charge of the flock himself. God has never made the flock wholly dependent

upon human instrumentalities. But the days of purification of the church are hastening on apace.God will have a people pure and true. In the mighty sifting soon to take place, we shall be better

able to measure the strength of Israel. The signs reveal that the time is near when the Lord will

manifest that his fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor. Testimonies, Vol.5, pp. 80, 81.

The foregoing series of statements shows that the church must be cleansed before the rest

of Gods peopleare gathered out of all countries. Then in those days, and in that time, when I

shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, says the Lord, I will also gather all

nations, and will bring them down into valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for

My people and for My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted
