Connected Places Catapult is based in the Urban Innovation Centre, One Sekforde Street in Clerkenwell. At Connected Places Catapult our

mission is to help firms develop innovative products and services that meet the needs of cities and help them sell those products and services to the world. A key component in delivering that mission is connecting businesses to the latest and emerging academic research so that they

can harness that knowledge to develop innovative propositions.

One Sekforde Street was originally built by a charitable mission as a

workhouse, where the disadvantaged made artificial flowers. The

building has later been owned by Pink Floyd and used as a recording

studio.

Nowadays the Urban Innovation Centre in Clerkenwell, Farringdon is the

home of Connected Places Catapult and a space for urban innovators to

work together to turn ideas into real city systems that will be used as a

model around the world.

The Urban Innovation Centre is also a perfect destination for hosting

events. Located just 500m away from Farringdon tube station, making it

an easy-to-reach location for companies and organisations from across

Central London and from further destinations. Right in the heart of

London, this venue has four spaces to welcome events such as

conferences, seminars, meetings, workshops, team away days, and

evening networking events.

Since opening in April 2015, we have welcomed over 34,500 visitors

and hosted over 1280 events.

URBAN INNOVATION CENTRE VENUE

Here at the Urban Innovation Centre we have great event spaces small to large,

whether your event is for 5 people or 100 people we would love to host you here.

We are located less than a 10-minute walk from Farringdon station providing easy

access to the city, an ideal location for your next event.

Each space boasting individual features such as large Georgian windows allowing

lots of natural light and a bright atmosphere in both our Boardroom and

Workspace. Our Auditorium has lots of open space and the added advantage of a

dedicated and exclusive break out space for breakout sessions or for those all-

important networking opportunities.

From the time you start scoping your event through to event delivery, there’s a lot to think about to ensure your event is a success. We understand how crucial choosing the right venue is for ensuring an excellent delegate and event experience. That’s why we offer:

• Event management Our expert Events team can support you to manage all aspects of your events.

• Free Wi-Fi Anyone using our building facilities has free access to our Wi-Fi broadband connection.

• Catering We can arrange any requirement you may have for catering through our preferred suppliers.

• Audio Visual We have a full audio-visual package included in the room hire, including HD projector, HD screens, Laptops, Speakers, Microphones, Videoconferencing, Recording and Streaming options. Audio Visual technical support is also available on request.

• Stationery All rooms come with stationery – white boards and flipcharts are available

• Competitive pricing We offer competitive venue hire and catering pricing without compromising on quality!

A place to host your events from small meetings to multi-day conferences, if you're planning an event the Urban Innovation Centre is the space you'll want to use. The venue is open from 08.00am up to 08.00pm. On request the building can be open before 08.00am and after 08.00pm. As we are located in a residential area the latest event finish time allowed will be 8.30pm.

Auditorium and Breakout Space:

The Auditorium is a generous sized space to hold your event. With a maximum seated capacity of 80 people, the space has a ceiling hung projector, screen, laptop, speakers, 4 x lapel mics and 2 x Handheld mics. This room also features a pinboard wall along the left-hand side for displaying work. You also get all the breakout space and our alcoves/bays included in your hire with the Auditorium, this gives you extra space outside the room for catering, breakout sessions and networking if required.

Breakout Space:

The break-out area is included in the hire of the Auditorium and is a great space for catering, networking and breakout sessions. The space is equipped with 5 x Large mobile TV screens for displaying your presentations and event graphics if required. This space can be setup in café style as in the below image, or with tall poseur tables for a standing reception. In addition, there is separate seating in our alcove areas alongside the Auditorium: 6 large bays that can each accommodate between 6 and 10 people offering a space for brainstorming and breakout sessions – we can provide a screen, a whiteboard and a flipchart for each of these bays.

Workspace:

The Workspace is a large, bright and airy room featuring state-of-the-art A/V facilities, including a video/tile wall to display all your presentations, laptop, 2 x handheld mics and speakers. This space has multi-use options ranging from workshops through to standing receptions. Additional facilities include a full room length white board wall and adjacent cloakroom.

Café and Demonstration Space

The Café and Demonstration Space is an ideal space to host an awards or

presentation ceremony, as well as networking and panel events. It can also be

used as a potential exhibition space. The main feature is a curved microtile

wall that would provide the perfect focal point for your event.

Boardroom

The Boardroom is a creative and professional space ideal for meetings and presentations with a maximum capacity for up to 18 people. This room benefits from lots of natural light with large traditional windows along one side and a whiteboard wall along the other.

LG1 and LG2

LG1 is a small meeting room which has capacity for up to 12 people, it has a

whiteboard wall along one side and a glass wall along another, it’s is a great

space for small meetings and presentations. LG1 can also be extended to a

slightly larger meeting room by opening the moving wall in LG2 making LG1 and

LG2 one larger meeting room.

Catering

Urban Innovation Centre work with trusted quality catering suppliers and are

happy to organise all your event catering needs. Whether you are looking for a

sandwich lunch, a buffet or networking nibbles and drinks we have a range of

catering packages available. A full catering menu with prices will be provided to

you upon request.

Connected Places Catapult events Connected Places Catapult have a programme of regular events every month, including breakfast briefings, lunchtime lectures and Third Thursdays. These events offer an opportunity to learn more about the research and project work we do. Speakers are drawn from across Connected Places Catapult, our Resident Innovators, Universities, SMEs and partner organisations. These events are also excellent networking opportunities to link with senior industry experts.

Find us

Public Transport: Our closest rail station is Farringdon, served by the underground and mainline national rail services. We are a 25-minute walk from both King's Cross and Liverpool Street. We are also a two-minute walk from Clerkenwell Road, which is served by various bus routes. Bike: We have showers, changing facilities and indoor storage for those arriving by bicycle. Please ask at reception for access. Clerkenwell is accessible via numerous designated quiet routes and you will find a Santander Cycle Hire docking station at the south end of Sekforde Street. Car: We are served by both the A1 and the A201. Sekforde Street is a one-way street and access is from the south via Clerkenwell Road. There is limited pay and display parking available on Sekforde Street, which is within the Congestion Charge zone.
