Urban Hacking with bottle-caps, Berlin's most popular waste. Please print/share as much as possible to help us endorse our Playful Revolution! This booklet is a documentation of all the games presented and designed during the 'Urban Hacking Workshop' at Playpublik festival 2012, Berlin. The workshop was hosted by Florian Riviere and co-hosted by Sylvan Steenhuis. Playpublik is an initiative by Invisible Playground and was hosted by the Computerspiele musuem, Friedrichshain, Berlin

Flea Circus

>> players : 2 – 4

>> material : 1 plate + 5 same caps by player

>> rules :the goal of the game is to use a cap to flip another cap into the bowl,when the game starts, players start to flip their caps into the bowl as fast as possible, when a cap lands next to the bowl the player takes the cap and tries again.The first player to land all of his caps in the bowl, wins.

Tower of Pisa

>> players : 2

>> material : unlimited caps by player

>> rules :Players take turn to stack 1 cap on to another to build the highest tower,the player that makes his stack fall, loses.alternative: combine powers to build 1 massive tower, the player that makes the tower topple, loses.

Tic-Tac-Toe

>> players : 2

>> material : 5 same caps + 5 same caps

>> rules :players take turn to put 1 cap in their own color on one of the 9 squares.The player that succeeds to complete 3 in a row, wins

Flick the Cap

>> players : 2 or more

>> material : 1 caps by player

>> rules :Players align 1 cap on the starting line,the player that flicks his cap the furthest, wins.

Jeu de Boule

>> players : 2 Teams of 1 or 2

>> rules :a players starts the game by throwing the red colored cap onto the pitch.Players take turn to throw a cap as close to the red cap as possible, eachplayer gets 3 throws.The team that succeeds to land a cap closest to the red cap, wins.

GoGo

>> players : 2 or more

>> material : a wall + 3 same caps by player

>> rules :players take turn to throw a bottle cap as close to the wall as possible,the player that succeeds to land one of his bottle caps closest to the wall,wins.

MEMORY

>> players : 2 – 4

>> material : 10 pairs of caps

>> rules :the game starts with the bottle caps turned face down.players take turn to flip 2 caps of choice, if the caps match the playerreceives the pair and gets another go, when all the pairs have been collect-ed,the player with the most caps, wins.

cup-a-cap

>> players : 2 or more

>> material : 1 paper cup per player

>> rules : use your paper cups to throw a bottle-cap back-and-forth. It’s harder than it looks! What will be your record?alternative: the player that makes a fault leaves the circle, an ultimate champion arises.

ESTAFETTE

>> players : 2 or more

>> material : each player needs 1 paper cup and 10 bottle-caps each

>> rules : players shake their cup, filled with 10 random caps, and throw them on the ground, the upturned caps can be picked up and ‘banked’ at the other end of the playing field (only upturned caps count!)the first player to bank all of his bottlecaps, wins.

Gulli

>> players : 2 or more

>> material : a man-hole, enough bottle-caps

>> rules : Every city is full of man-holes. They usually come in unusual shapes and sizes. Find a man-hole with an interesting pattern and think of a boardgame using the man-hole as a board. Try using different powers for different caps (like with chess)

Cappix

>> players : 2 or more

>> material : a stick, some gravel, and a handfull of caps

>> rules : The first player takes a handfull of caps and throws them on the ground. The second player then takes a stick and ‘connects the dots’ be-tween caps. Free association: go wild on this on!Take turns until players agree on a final form.

Cap soccer

>> players : 2 players

>> material : a flat surface, some pencils, 4 caps each

>> rules : Use the pencils, or any other object, to set up the field.The goal of the game is to be the first to score 3 goals.You are only allowed to move caps by flicking them trough 2 of your other caps, take turns until a winner arises.
