Why do we think like that?
I think the answer is pretty simple: The worldhas changed.Somewhere along the line, as profits increased

companiesshrugged off that troublesome burden of loyalty to
employeesand replaced it with an insatiable loyalty to

The Collapsing of the Old world
High unemployment in the US (9.4% in December 2010) affected morethan 14 million people and in Canada (7.6% in December 2010). Wagesare stagnant, hardly keeping up with inflation. Double figure unemploymentrates prevail in the Philippines.
1 in 6 Americans live in poverty. (LA Times, January 5,2011).
55% of retirees(between 55-70) have less than $100,000 in householdinvestable assets (LDORA, July 2010, and yet, estimated health care costs alonefor a retired 65-year old couple is over $250,000.
98% of the Filipino senior citizens are financially struggling. Majority ofthese are depending on their children (about 45%). You may know one of them.
It used to be that we work for 40 years, between 25-65, and retirefor the

10 yearsof this century will very likely go down as the most dispiriting and
disillusioning decadeAmericans have lived through in the post-World War II era. Calling it the
