The foundation of MIT Group of Institutions, Pune, rests firmly on the adage of the Great Noble Son of India, Swami Vivekananda's, "Union of Science and Religion/Spirituality alone will bring peace to the mankind". When we founded the World Peace Centre, MAEER's MIT, Pune in 1996, we took a step towards trying to bring together science and spirituality with the intention of establishing a 'Culture of Peace in the World'.
India is often referred to as the 'Knowledge Corridor of the World', and can play a major role in the area of union of science and spirituality for world peace. When more and more knowledgeable and motivated youth take active interest in administration, India will be in a position to lead the world in establishing the 'Culture of Peace'.
Establishment of MIT Civil Services Training Institute was a step taken by us in the direction of providing our country with Mentally Strong, Physically fit, Stress-free & Spiritually High Administrators, having the zeal to serve the Nation.
MIT Group of Institutions, Pune has always made pioneering efforts in different fields of academics for the overall development of the student community with a view to provide excellent citizens to this country. MIT Civil Services Training Institute is a unique and significant effort that is bound to provide a new direction to the way of administration of the various democratic institutions of this country. I urge all the educated youth of India to be a part of this program of Creating administrators, and help shape the future of a strong and vibrant India.

There is wide spread recognition now that a professional service that provides the sinews of administration is a must for any country especially in a Democracy where the rule of Law is an article of faith. In India, All India Civil Services were created as envisaged in the Constitution of India as a professional of service, providing the backbone of our administrative apparatus and it has commanded prestige, respect and even adulation. The system of selecting talented youngsters to meet different qualitative requirement of diversified fields of administration in varied geographical and cultural Regions of the country, through the process of an All India Competitive Examination, is in itself a testimony to our strengths of Unity in Diversity and for that we must thank and praise the vision of our Founding Fathers.
MIT- CST has been established to train aspiring young minds not merely to achieve success at the Civil Services Examination but also to groom them to become leaders in true sense. With rich experience of MAEER's MIT Group in varied streams of education in general and specially on issues of governance through its School of Government (MIT-SOG) and blessed with a pool of qualified teachers and guidance of many stalwarts of high expertise and experience, I have no doubt that the academy will give a new dimension to the way Civil Servants aspirants are guided in their preparation for the tough Civil Service entrance examinations.
I am happy to be associated with this effort and am sure that implementation of the novel ideas behind establishing the academy will lead to the creation of a new benchmark for civil servant aspirant-training.
I wish MIT- CST all the very best in its endeavors.

ROLE O F C I V I L S ERV I CES I N I ND I A’ S DEVELOPMENT-
Moorings of civil services are in the colonial rule. Imperial Civil Service was constituted in 1886-87 by the British to rule over entire India effectively. Imperial Civil services was later called ‘India Civil Service’. After independence, ICS was changed into ‘Union Public Service Commission’ (Established by the provision of Indian Constitution under Article 315). Civil services of British era were to exploit India, but after independence Civil Services are implemented to
establish the concept of welfare state.
Civil services are the services related to the administration, police, trade, accounts etc. Policy Maker (Ruling Leader or Government) is the brain of India, while Civil Service is the heart of India. It is responsible to implement the policies of Policy Maker and ensure that the benefits of the policy will be reached to common citizen of the country. Indian citizen who is willing to serve his/her own country, Civil Services is the best carrier option.
Various administrative posts like IAS, IPS, and IFS are filled by UPSC. These services are all India services(Established by the provision of the Indian Constitution under Article 312) which gives a golden opportunity to serve the nation. UPSC conducts these examinations every year. There are three stages of exam - prelim, main and interview.
Candidate who clears all three stages will be recommended for posting based on his ranking and preference. Training is given before the on field job.
After independence, India faced many hurdles like internal aggression, external aggression, drought, poverty etc. To implement policies of the government and to solve internal problems like inequality in income levels, transparency and accountability issues, law & order situation, corruption, environmental issues / sustainable development etc., there is need of executive officers who will implement the policies of the government to grass root level. As India is emerging as world power, we have to overcome all these problems through good governance.
Civil Servant’s basic duty is to look after welfare of the people, national integrity, peace etc. Civil Service isthe best option to serve for India and contribute to make India a superpower.
Various policies and schemes are formulated by the government for the welfare of the people. But the effective and dedicated administrators are responsible for implementing those schemes. Corruption is the biggest hurdle which restricts India’s growth and development.
Corruption at each and every stage is decaying India’s growth and progress. So for the welfare of the India clean, prompt and honest officers are needed. So as to bring socio economic reform in the India, a good administration is must and it is the need of 21st century.
Administrative officers with high ethics and morality are needed. If corruption free system exists, the policies of good governance will reach to common man and evils like poverty, economic disparity, and illiteracy will be eradicated. For transparent working &sustainable growth good governance is required and that can be achieved by the civil servants and the civil services aspirants too.
Role of civil services is very vital in India’s development. Honest, clean, efficient officer can bring major changes in the society and the nation. Civil Servant can ignite the fire of reforms in the society. Civil servants bridge the gap between government and the public.
Civil servants must know the grass root problems of the society and should be able to solve those problems. They must be capable of bringing reforms in the society and creating awareness among the people about their rights and duties as a citizen of India. They should use their knowledge to solve socio-economic problems in India.
Government makes plans and schemes which are public centric, but due to corruption, lack of responsibility, political interference and pressure, these schemes cannot reach to grass root level and common man will not benefited. So civil servants must deliver the service which is public centric. They should set service benchmark for sustainable growth.
Civil services are notonly limited to police, foreign, and administration but also extend services to accounts, trade, railways, postal, revenue etc. For the development of public sector, civil servant plays an important role. The duty of civil servantis to provide transparent, clean, time frame decisive governance and involving the people in the development of projects.
Various services like IPS (Indian Police Services) are responsible for maintaining law and order in the state. To avoid and compress the evil practices in the society, IPS executives can play a better role. IAS (Indian Administrative Service) is the highest and most important administrative position which is responsible for the administration and governing of the state. Civil services play an important role in overall development of the country.
Preparing for the examination, will be the noble decision for the student who wishes to contribute in India’s development through the administrative services. The achievement in the examination will
depend on the various factors. But the study that students are doing during their preparation will make them a responsible citizen of India who will be aware about his his/her duties and responsibilities about the society and the nation. The knowledge of various subjects achieved during preparation will be helpful for the students to upgrade their personality, vision of thinking and decision making ability. Proper coaching is one of the important parameter for getting the success in this Competitive Civil Services Examination. MIT-CST will assure you to provide excellent coaching for the preparation of Civil Services Examination.
