The sedition law in India comes under section 124-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860 and wasintroduced in 1870 by Thomas Macaulay.

As per the IPC, for an act to be ‘seditious’, it should have following components:• Any words, which can be either written or spoken, or signs which include placards/posters (visible
representation).• Must bring hatred/contempt/disaffection against the Indian Government.• Must result in ‘imminent violence’ or public disorder (added later).

Naga accord was signed as a framework agreement between the government of India and NSCN (I-M) inAugust 2015 which finally ended the oldest insurgency activity in India.

The final draft of the agreement is still under process. According to sources the demand for separate stateof Nagalim was dropped by the Naga representatives but the talks are halted due deadlock on symbolicdemarcations like separate flag etc.
