Your body
Here are some of the important parts of your
body. Can anyone name them?
HeartBonesLungs Muscles
TTYP- can you describe the important job
that they each do?
Your heart pumps blood
around your body to carry
oxygen and other important
things that you need.
Your bones support
your body to give it
structure.
Your muscles help you to move.
They work with your bones to give
your body power and strength.
Your lungs allow you to breathe.
You breathe in oxygen and breathe
out carbon dioxide.
Hardworking muscles use more
oxygen. That's why breathing gets
heavier during exercise. You need
to get plenty of air into your lungs
when you are exercising.
How does exercise help these parts of
the body?
Exercise builds up your lungs so that they are
using the oxygen well.
Exercise makes your bones and
muscles stronger.
Your heart pumps faster when you are being
active which makes it stronger as your heart is
also a muscle!
How much exercise should we do?
What exercises can we do? It is important we build regular exercise into our daily routine.
TTYP- What different things could we do each day to help our body and mind be healthy?
We could walk or cycle to school or make sure we have an active mile in a different way. We could join a sporting club and make sure we are playing outside each day.
If we have an inactive lifestyle, one where we don't move enough to the best of our ability, it can be damaging to our body and mind. For example, it can lead to heart disease and obesity.
What else can I do to keep physically
healthy?
Eat a balanced diet.
Drink plenty of water.
and teeth Keep
your body clean. Get plenty
of sleep.
