Slashing someone out of your Will might be seem like a great idea – bear in mind, though, under the Family Protection Act 1955 you have a “moral duty” to provide for your family on your death, and they can contest your Will if you’ve not done so. However, that moral duty can be reduced if there’s evidence of family behaving badly!

WANAKA

A sense of calm has descended on our town this week after a busy summer period. Enjoy this time as the busy months of winter are not too far away.

On Monday afternoon a vehicle was parked at the Wishbone Waterfall Carpark on Mount Aspiring Road. The rear window was smashed and a camera bag with just under $8000 worth of equipment taken. It’s all too common to see people leaving valuables visible in their vehicles. Please hide them out of sight to combat this type of theft.

A local man is facing a serious assault charge after a family disagreement went too far. Alcohol being a contributing factor.

Someone has a serious issue with Wanaka’s public library after a window and the front door were smashed on consecutive nights. The offender has removed a paving stone from a nearby garden and thrown it through a side window. They have returned the following night using the same method to smash the front door. Police are following up with several enquiries and would love to hear from the public if they have any information on this pointless crime.

On Sunday a 46 year old male was airlifted from Rob Roy walking track to Dunedin Hospital as he suffered a serious seizure. Police would once again like to thank members of the Wanaka LandSAR group for their quick response and professionalism in recovering this patient.

We have received a report of a cat being shot in a built up area near houses. No matter what your thoughts are on cats, this act is an offence, no one should

an obvious risk to not only pets but also people and property.

If you have any information pertaining to the incidents above please call the Station on (03) 443 7272 to speak

Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Have a great week.

TOP TIP: Windows 10 – Should you update? Our advice, at this stage, is to hold off upgrading to Windows 10,

particularly if you are running Windows 7.We have seen a number of customers who have upgraded,

experienced issues, then want to roll back. This is possible but is not always 100% clean.

Don’t worry, the “free” upgrade is available until next August, so we recommend waiting until Windows 10 has been out for a few more

months and most of the bugs are sorted.

Lone Star Wanaka was opened in 2009 and now due to other business commitments in fast growing Wanaka the business is on the market for the

first time.

This is an exciting opportunity for an owner/operator or couple experienced in hospitality or equally may suit an existing hospitality

provider in Wanaka or Queenstown wishing to expand their operations.

Lone Star is New Zealand’s leading large format restaurant brand and franchise and is now 28 venues strong nationwide.

The Business operates from the outstanding and high profile Basecamp facility on Cardrona road (the Highway between Wanaka and Queenstown)

and with both residential and accommodation growth all around, this is a superb location. The business has bar and dining and function facilities

over two floors as well as extensive outdoor dining along with a children’s playground and a very large carpark.

Catering for both casual dining and a large variety of functions there is huge opportunity to grow this business from an already impressive and

consistent turnover.

The business is available turn-key fully fitted out with an attractive lease and low ingoing costs. It’s a business with a great team of staff, systems and

franchise support and with the very busy winter season coming up – timing is ideal.

Initial expressions of interest to [email protected] and close 22/4/2016.
