● EUNAVFOR ⇒  From DEC 2008, EU decided to commence a counter-piracy operation, escorting vessels transporting supplies for WFP and patrolling area.

Why JMSDF officer leads CTF151

• In December 2013, Vice Admiral Miller, Commander of CMF visited Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

• PM Abe said to Vice Admiral Miller that he is considering sending JMSDF officer to lead CTF151.

• New response guideline concerning JMSDF’s counter-piracy operation was approved by cabinet in July 2014 and Japan decided to send Commander and staff to CTF151 by May 2015.
