Activities Galore!
School has been a very busy place so
far! Students have participated in the
Terry Fox Run, Book Fair, come to
the Open House and Family Picnic,
had school photos taken, participated
in Orange Shirt Day and have had
WildSafe BC wildlife presentations.
We still have so much more coming
this month alone: Waste Manage-
ment workshops, a Cross Country
meet, Kindergarden Fire Safety, and
the BC Shakeout just to name a few.
Terry Fox Run
ank you to everyone who
participated with us or helped
ensure our students were safe
along the route. We are proud
to participate in this event each
year. We raised just over $500
for the Terry Fox Foundation!!

Our Mamquam Parent Group (Mamquam PAC) has been formed for the 2016/2017 school year and we are excited for an amazing year!
We represent all the families of Mamquam School and our purpose is to build a positive school community and to encourage families to get involved with this community and their children’s education. We hold regular meetings, plan events and fundraise for much need-ed things for our school.
We will strive to give parents more learning opportunity’s at our meetings as well.
Please join us this coming Wednesday, October 12th at 6:00 pm where this month’s topic will be the new BC Curriculum and the changes to reporting/grading. If you have a chance, check out BC’s New Curriculum: Build-ing Student Success at https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/
Bring your kids, there will be 2 certified babysitters available during the meeting!! We look forward to having you in our Learning Commons on Wednesday to begin our conversation and continue to find ways to sup-port your child’s learning!
Join us Friday, October 28th and November 25th at 9:00 am for Coffee and Conversation, meet new parents, chat with our Principal and enjoy a cup of coffee. These C & C’s are not meant to be a PAC meeting, but rather a chance to meet others and get acquainted /get-to-know-you.
Our first official meeting will be Wednesday, November 9th at 6:30 pm to discuss the Christmas Craft Fair and review Mamquam Parent Group business. Again, babysitting will be available!
Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions, concerns or ideas! We appreciate hearing from you. Email: [email protected] and add yourself to our Facebook page: Mamquam Parent Adviso-ry Group

THANK YOU to everyone who supported the Fall Scholastic Book Fair!! We profited almost $1000 in cash and $800 in books!
This was a very successful fundraiser for our Library Learning Commons and money will be used to make our learning space even better, either through the hosting of special events or the purchase of new books and furniture.
A HUGE Thank You to our Parent Volunteers who came in each morning and after school to help make this the success it was. We truly appreciate your help!

The Best Part of Me
As you walk through the hallways, please take time to admire the classroom displays. The whole school
has used “The Best Part of Me” by Wendy Ewald, to create pieces of descriptive writing to go with a
photo of the best part of every child in the class.
Children chose what they felt was their “Best Part” and wrote why they felt it was special and unique,
recognizing their own positive qualities. Keep watch as
every class will show the “Best
of themselves”
