Update on G3 Terminal Vancouver Construction of a modern and highly efficient Export Grain Terminal, North Vancouver April 2020 COVID-19 and G3’s Response The health and safety of our employees, customers and the public is our priority at G3. As the COVID-19 crisis has unfolded, we have followed the guidance of public health authorities and implemented appropriate measures to protect people from the virus and limit its spread. Canada’s grain supply chain is considered an essential service in this time of crisis. One tonne of wheat yields enough flour to make about 1,600 loaves of bread and each train that G3 Terminal Vancouver handles holds over 10,000 mt of wheat – that’s 16.0 million loaves of bread for each train that G3 handles that helps to provide food security to people around the world in this time of need. This is why G3 is working hard to ensure the continued supply of wheat and other grains grown in Canada to people around the world by safely operating our grain elevators and port terminals despite the challenges presented by COVID-19. To the women and men on the front lines in keeping our community safe, we thank you and offer our support in the North Shore’s response to the COVID-19 crisis. G3 has donated $10,000 to the Lion’s Gate Hospital Foundation’s efforts in purchasing much needed equipment such as ventilators for the hospital’s dedicated COVID-19 unit and supplying key programs to our community. Construction Update Construction of G3 Terminal Vancouver is in its final phase, with all major facilities and related equipment in place. Construction has been designated an essential service in British Columbia, and we along with our contractor are working hard to ensure the remaining work and the transition to operations is conducted within the safety standards directed by the Provincial Health Officer. As the potential impacts from COVID-19 are constantly evolving G3, its contractor and the Port of Metro Vancouver are extending the development permit to August 31. G3 Terminal Vancouver remains on track to load its first commercial ship this month, coinciding with the handover of the facility from our contractor and transition to commercial operations

April 2020

COVID-19 and G3’s ResponseThe health and safety of our employees, customers and the public is our priority at G3.

Construction UpdateConstruction of G3 Terminal Vancouver is in its final phase, with all major facilities and related equipment in place.

G3 Terminal VancouverConstruction began on G3 Terminal Vancouver in March 2017. The state-of-the-art grain export facility includes 180,000 tonnes of storage in 48 concrete silos; a grain cleaning facility; a railway loop track system that can accommodate three 150-car trains and unload them in continuous motion; and a dock with three articulated ship loading booms to load vessels up to post-Panamax size. Together with G3’s expanding network of loop track grain elevators on the Prairies, G3 Terminal Vancou-ver will be game changer in the Canadian grain supply chain, providing farmers with more efficient access to world markets, and overseas customers with more reliable access to high quality Canadian grain, ever more important in an age where food security is a paramount concern.

StaffCOVID-19 protocol management continues to be a big part of G3’s daily activity. G3’s employees and contractors are observing the required physical distancing and hygiene protocols set out by BC health authorities. Our offices are closed to the public, and some staff are working from home as a further precaution.

Milestones

Marine

G3 received Transport Canada approval of its ship-related Port Security System, enabling it to bring ships to berth. The test ship at G3 Terminal Vancouver docked in early March and completed a 10 – day work-out of the ship loading system that carries grain from the silos and safely into the holds of the ship.

Land

Since January, 20 trains have arrived on the loop tracks, delivering grain to fill and geotechnically settle the concrete silos, which is expected to be complete at the end of April.

Concurrently, grain movement through the cleaning building will begin as the final part of the live commissioning process.
