The Queensland Day Sponsorship Program encourages Queenslanders to celebrate Queensland Day in a way that reflects the unique culture, heritage and aspirations of their own community.

Each year, right across the state, Queenslanders mark this annual celebration of our people, places and achievements with barbeques, family fun days, festivals, street parades or an event unique to their community.

Applications for sponsorship of up to $10,000 (exclusive of GST) are now being accepted for events to be held to celebrate Queensland Day in 2017. Events are encouraged to be held on Queens-land Day, 6 June, however can be held between 2 and 10 June 2017.

Events will need to:

• raise community awareness of Queensland Day and Queensland themes

• encourage community participation and engagement

• contribute to a statewide program of diverse, inclusive and innovative community events, cele-brations, initiatives and promotions

• promote social, cultural and economic benefit to the community

• showcase local or Queensland entertainers, produce or icons. Sponsorship funding is available for a limited number of events or initiatives to be held around 6 June 2017 that will commemorate

Queensland’s people, places, culture and achievements and encourage community participation. These events or initiatives must

also present innovative practices and/or creative ideas that will inspire the Queenslanders to get involved.

For more information, or to download the 2017 sponsorship program guidelines, visit the Queensland Week website at www.qld.gov.au/

queenslandweek. Applications close on Friday 9 September 2016.

Please direct any queries to the Program Coordinator in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet by email at [email protected] or on telephone (07) 3003 9200.

It is important organisations thoroughly read and understand the guidelines before submitting an application.

Skin Exhibition Date: July 15, 2016 to August 3, 2016

Location: Mission Arts

Pale as porcelain or weathered and gnarly with age, it is the living canvass we pierce, tat-

too, scar and colour to make a statement. It’s the thing that binds us and divides us.

"SKIN" a new exhibition exploring the thin layer of natural outer tissue covering the human body opens at Mission Beach Community Arts Centre on Friday 15th July 2016.

This exhibition focuses on different interpretations of skin far beyond our literal understanding of it as a familiar, physical organ. The collection of work will be both thoughtful and thought provoking, examining it against a diverse array of so-cial, physical, and cultural phenomena.
