President’s Message
Corinne Vahalik/Vahalik & Vahalik, P.C. Our annual banquet was a huge success! Thank you to all of our
sponsors and attendees who made the event possible. We had a
terrific evening honoring the well-deserved honorees, Doyle
Callender and Anthony Francis.
Jennifer Jones and the entire team at Cane Island truly went the
extra mile to ensure an exceptional event. This was the
inaugural event at Cane Island, and membership was granted a
sneak peek at the Amenity Center at this masterfully planned
community – just another benefit your Chamber offers!
We are back to our normal schedule in February with our monthly luncheon at Cazadores
Mexican Restaurant in Pattison and will feature Brian Haines of the YMCA who will
provide an update on the new location in our area.
Thank you for supporting your Chamber!

Royal ISD Denim & Diamonds Fundraiser- February 20, 2016
A Note From Royal ISD Superintendent Stacy Ackley
Did you know that at Royal ISD:
* Total student enrollment is 2,272 students
* Demographics are 71% Hispanic/Latino, 19% African American, and 11% White
* 90% of our students’ households are economically disadvantaged
* 60% of our students are currently struggling learners
I am requesting your support for Royal ISD this year by means of a donation to our
second annual fundraising campaign: 2016 Denim and Diamonds Casino Night. Our
annual fundraiser raises money for our various academic programs.
The money collected goes toward additional academic support for programs such as our
Falcon Flyer Program. Money will also be allotted to student technology as we pursue
our one-to-one technology goal for all students. We will also use these funds for our
student enrichment programs such as the Royal STEM Academy Royal Early College
High School.
We currently have a donor that will match the first $400,000 raised. In addition to this
match, he has pledged to donate an additional $350,000 each year for the next five years.
This donor has done this the past two years. Without this support we cannot provide the
additional support that our students need. These donations are not to support what you
know as a “normal school programs, such as tutorials,” but programs that is designed to
save kids that may otherwise be lost.
With your donation we will be able to provide our students with the proper supplies and
materials needed for academic success. Please remember that your gift is tax-deductible!
Thank you in advance for your support. See flyer below for details.

In Case You Missed It Royal High School Go Center Ribbon Cutting
On Friday, January 29th a large crowd showed up to support the opening of the Royal
High School The Go Center serves as a place for coordination between students,
counselors, businesses, and institutions of higher education. At the Go Center, students

Students and teachers (bringing their classes) will be able to utilize the Go Center to do
research about colleges and careers, fill out applications for scholarships or colleges,
complete work applications with help, and work on financial aid paperwork as well. It
will also serve as a place where presenters can come in and speak with groups of students
