“’There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.’– Colin Powell As all of you WHT scholars know by now, college is strenuous, stressful, and sometimes a challenge. It is a chore that you have to learn to love and get past. We must prepare ourselves everyday for what the week has to offer. We must be prepared in turning in our homework on time, attending all of our WHT events including the individual and group meetings put on by the mentors, and studying for exams in advance for all of this will prepare us for our future. Hard work is something that should be instilled in our minds and it will promote the best results. Never be afraid of failure for this is just another stepping stone to our future. Sometimes failure leads us to another door we never thought would open. “ Cally Tejkl, WHT Mentor

“As the semester is slowly but surely coming to an end, many students begin to lose their motivation and want to participate in more leisure activities rather than completing their school work. It is important to stay focused before Winter Break. We want you all to be successful and to finish the semester strong. Trust us, the more work you put into your finals, the better Winter Break you will have. Remember, as WHT Scholars, you have to attend all of your events along with meeting with your favorite mentors on campus! The events are available for you all to gain new skills on a variety of topics so take advantage of that. College can be stressful, but take the time to appreciate how lucky you are to be students at one of the best Universities in the nation. Do well and be happy our friends.” -Alex Jurgens, WHT Mentor

Two of our WHT Mentors, Cally & Alex, are offering up some sage advice to help you stay on track between now and the end of the semester. A Big Thanks goes out to all of our wonderful WHT Mentors!!!

"How YOU prepare in the present will predict how YOU perform in the future"

“As I walked across campus last week, I saw a student in front of me walk past an empty Runza cup. No one else was around, but she stopped, picked up the cup, and threw it away. No one asked her to pick it up, and no one congratulated her for doing so. She genuinely cares about her home (the university) and she wants the university to look good probably not only for herself but for everyone else on campus, because she has pride in her college. Do you have pride in your home? In your college? Take time to do something small for someone else, or just pick up a piece of trash on the ground. Every little bit helps!
