Three CFIs were there to answer our questions and we could stump

them if we wanted.

Grand County Historical Association

The “official” ceremony of the Friends of the Granby Airport turning over the $1,000 check and the “Key” to the Emily Warner Field Aviation Museum (EWFAM). It will offi-cially become one of

the family of Grand County Historical Association’s mu-seums. The ceremony will be at noon, Friday, May 20, 2016 at the airport/EWFAM at 1023 CR 610 in Granby.

In addition to local historical importance, May 20 is also the 89th anniversary of Charles Lindbergh’s historic solo transatlantic flight in the Spirit of St. Louis. Be-cause of Lindbergh’s local Granby ties, this is a perfect opportunity to celebrate our local aviation history.

Come enjoy this FREE local attraction, Friday, May 20 from 11AM to 2PM.

The Colorado 99s will be offering two scholarships for $2,000 each to Colorado women student pilots needing financial assistance finishing their private (or sport) pilot license. The applicant must have soloed and have passed her written completed by the application due date of April 30, 2016. Watch the website Colorado 99s for details.

The Rebelle Rally, the first women’s off-road navigation rally in the U.S. The Rebelle Rally Media Director Kirsten Kuhn wanted to reach out to women pilots, "...as we’d love to get this event on your radar. Started by women for women, we’re launching our inaugural event this October". A competition first and foremost, but also a platform for the strong, independent woman of today - a challenge of precise navigation combined with the love of driving and adventure. That said, we have a gut feeling pilots will fall in love with our demands on the ground.

The parallel between pilots and “Rebelles” are plentiful - pilots use heading and distances and also must have a sense of mechanics to check their plane. Like you, we share a love for challenge and solutions. Pilots also need to stay focused with their eye on the prize…this rally is a true thinking person’s competition where skill and determi-nation go a long way. Not a race for speed rather a demanding event based on the elements of headings, hidden checkpoints, time, and distance using maps, compass, and roadbook. Let the strategy begin.

If you feel like taking the ultimate road trip through the American West, or know like-minded women who would like to disconnect (no cell phone, computers or GPS allowed), and reconnect with themselves, feel free to contact me anytime at [email protected].

We love everything The 99s stand for and your admirable roots (side note - my associate’s great aunt Erin Darden was a 99). We’d be thrilled to share our passion for challenge, determination, skill-building and encouragement of women.

Next month the Colorado 99s will be hosting a Girl Scout Aviation Patch Day. At this event, Girl Scouts will learn about different aspects of aviation, and will take home an Aviation patch at the end of the day. There are four stations that teach about weather, aerodynamics, aircraft history, and air traffic control, and there will also be a static aircraft display. This event will take place on May 14 between 1:00 and 4:00 PM at the Aspen Flying Club at Centennial Airport. If you are interested in helping, please fill out the form with
