From the Principal:What an exciting week, despite the heat. Luckily we had opportunities to de-light in cool treats, like the Kona Ice truck and ice-cream at lunch on Wednes-day, which was left over from Back to School Bites. In the classrooms students are working in Google classroom, writing on SMART boards, completing proj-ects, and composing reflective prayerful letters to God.
Thank you, parents, for attending last week’s Meet and Greet. This was an exciting time to connect with teachers and hear about what to look forward to this school year. As I walked the halls, what stood out to me was many smiles on parent faces, curious questions being asked, and engaging student work displayed throughout the school.
This week students will be taking the Iowa tests, which measures a student’s knowledge in subject areas they have learned in school – reading, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. Please be sure your child(dren) gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast.
Do not forget to bookmark the school calendar to stay on top of and plan to attend our many exciting events!
Kona Ice!
The JV Soccer team (above) and the Varsity Boys and Girl’s track and field teams (below) received their Diocesan Champion Sweatshirts at our all-school mass last week.

From the Classrooms:Back by popular demand is our Enrichment program. This year all middle school students will have the oppor-tunity to participate in a variety of clubs: GeoChallenge, Fantasy Football, Cooking, Chess/Board Games, and Comic Book Creation. The final offering, the News/Yearbook group will be writing the content in the student section below. Clubs meet once a week on Wednesdays for a 40-minute block. Students are mixed among the four grades. This is a great opportunity for students to explore subjects that interest them.
Student News: The week our News/Yearbook Enrichment Crew went to visit Mrs. Heas-ley’s 2nd Grade Class. They did a special project about different habitats. We had a lot of fun seeing all of the different projects from the amazing 2nd grade. Everyone was so creative. The 2nd graders shared, “We loved sharing our facts and habitats with everyone.”
** Mrs. Heasley beings the year with this project. Students pick an ani-mal, conduct research, and construct a diorama depicting their habitat.
Another thing that happened this week was the Kona Ice truck that came on Wednesday. It turns out some generous donor gave us the opportu-nity to have Kona ices. Whoever that person is, we thank them for that wonderful treat!
A shout out to our new Principal, Mrs. E. She helped make these events possible. This will be a very great year!
