We’ve moved!
Greetings to Upward Bound Students, Families and Partners
Millette Tucker, Program
Manager, Upward Bound
Happy New Year to our scholars,
families, colleagues and community
partners. Our 2018-2019 academic year
has been very busy. Our scholars are
making great strides and taking
advantage of all that the Upward Bound
Program has to offer.
We have strengthened our relationships
with our partner schools, John Marshall
High School, Glenville High School,
In November 2018 our students had
an opportunity to participate in the
Black American Council College-
wide Food Drive. Students and
staff of Upward Bound and
Upward Bound Math and Science
donated enough food items to fill
two large bins.
Upward Bound has moved to the newly-
renovated Campus Center. Our offices are on the
lower level of the building in room 000L5 and we
are located close to the food court.
Upward Bound classes will still be held in the
Liberal Arts Building and our events will be held
in the locations posted on our flyers.
East Technical High School and
John Hay High School.
New partnerships are evolving as
we continue to ensure that our
scholars prepare to successfully
graduate from high school, attend
and graduate from college. I hope
you enjoy our newsletter which
will highlight the first half of our
academic year.

Welcome to Our New Staff Member
The Upward Bound staff has added a new staff member. Jennifer
Haynes will be working with us as Student Advisor.
Jen has a B.S./B.A. in psychology, sociology, and exercise physiology from Ohio Northern University. She has a M.A. in education from Heidelberg University and a M.Ed. in school counseling from Bowling Green State University.
Previously, she also was a school counselor and testing coordinator for schools at the K-12 level. Jen has also been an intercollegiate cross country and track assistant coach at several colleges. Her hobbies include training for racing, endurance running and triathlon events. She is most proud to have completed two full distance Ironman triathlon races and plans to do another next Fall.
Each quarter Upward Bound celebrates the current successes of our students. Last quarter we celebrated our scholars with an award presentation to acknowledge merit-based academic accomplishments. We presented students with awards for high honor roll, honor roll, merit roll, and perfect attendance.
We are proud to announce that we awarded over 50 participants. We look forward to our second quarter presentation, as we are sure to have many more students to celebrate.
