DUFFY THEATRE We will be hosting the Duffy Theatre Group who will be performing for our school on July 4th. 11am.

All welcome. DUFFY AUTHOR VISIT– Heather Haywood

We will also be hosting a Duffy Author who will be sharing her work ‘Granny McFlitter the champion Knit-ter’ with our students on June 28th at 11.30am. A book we’ve read in classes.

The children will be receiving their book choice at this assembly.

Kia ora koutou I hope everyone is faring well in the cold snap this week. On those frosty mornings, take extra care around the school, particularly on our wooden decking and painted concrete. Whilst we have treated these areas to reduce the 'slip' factor, when frozen they are still very slippery. This week we have had Alison in working in classes teaching and raising awareness of Zero Waste. The students have been highly responsive and engaged in this. A huge thank you to Alison, for your wonderful creativity and passion. We want to continue considering the concepts and what more we can do as a school to reduce waste from school and from home. A huge congratulations to our 6 teams that went up to the college to play Tapuwae. Whilst we did not bring home the win this year, our tamariki played hard, played fair and had fun. Congratulations to Waihi Beach School for taking the win this year. We have finished analysing our mid-year Student Achievement Data and we continue to see great progress in Maths (which builds on the focus for development last year). Our main focus this year is now seeing improvement in success in Writing, particularly years 4-6. With the work that staff have done in professional learning around writing, we are already seeing exciting movement in writing progress across the classes. We are on track to meet the targets set out in our 2019 Charter and Annual Plan. Next week we welcome the Education Review Office (ERO) to our school, who will be taking a few days to dig into what we do here, our learning, our systems, our achievements and where we are heading as a school. We have many celebrations and achievements to share with them as well as improvement plans for us to continue moving forward. As part of the process, we invite parents and whanau down to have a meeting with them. If you would like to attend, please come down to school next Tuesday 2nd July at 2.10pm for an early afternoon tea and a chat with our guests. In the coming holidays, we will have contractors on site working inside and outside the buildings up-grading our school lighting. Every single light fixture is being replaced, if you are on site, please stay clear of them, their gear i.e. ladders and stay out of buildings if they are open. I look forward to seeing you next week at our Celebration Assembly. Nga mihi nui Zac

PB4L News - Positive Behaviour for Learning. As part of our PB4L journey, we have conducted a well-being survey with a sample of Year 4-6 chil-dren. It is important to us that our tamariki have a say. The survey was really positive, indicating that we have a welcoming school environment for children and whanau, children feel that they belong,

that children are involved in their learning and our teachers are implementing programmes that con-sider the children’s needs and interests. We are continuing to work on our school values and what

this looks like in action for our tamariki according to what is age appropriate. As always, we welcome your feedback as to what we can do to further embrace the positive culture of our wonderful school.

Feel free to touch base with your child’s teacher or email [email protected]

For example, if parking is creating muddy, deep ruts in the grassed berm please consider parking elsewhere. Please note this is not a request to stop the public parking on the roadside. As long as vehicles are parked legally, not causing undue nuisance, safety issues or damage to the berm it shouldn’t be of concern. This notice is more to ask people to please take pride in their streets, be good community citizens and ensure the berms in front of your neighbours properties are kept tidy.
