INT. JAMES ROOM DAY

JAMES is lying asleep in bed. Sun streams in from hiswindow. The clock reads 5:59. As soon as it hits 6am thebuzzer goes off waking up James. He rolls over and turns offthe clock. Music starts to play.

INT. BATHROOM DAY

James turning on the shower.

CUTS TO

INT. BEDROOM DAY

James getting dressed, then taking his laptop off his deskand putting it into his bag and walking out the door.

EXT. OUTSIDE JAME’S HOUSE DAY

James gets into his car and drives off.

EXT. COLLEGE DAY

James pulls up to college and parks his car.

EXT. COLLEGE CAMPUS DAY

James is walking up onto the campus. He sits down at hisclass and opens his book. The bell rings and he leaves.

EXT. PARKING LOT DAY

He pulls up to another spot and he parks. He gets out andwalks up to the mall. A cute girl is sitting on a benchplaying with her cell phone. She has sunglasses on her headand her hair is in a ponytail. As James walks up, she looks

up and smiles. She gets up and they kiss and go inside.

CUTS TO

INT. FOOD COURT DAY

James and EMILY are eating together, they are laughing andenjoying each others company. His hand is on top of hers andhe is rubbing it with his thumb. He smiles at her when she’snot looking and he looks away when she looks up at him.

CUTS TO

INT. MALL DAY

James and Emily are walking around holding hands. They arereally cute together and are very much in love. They look atdifferent stores.

INT. LIBRARY DAY

James is studying and Emily is relaxed and reading. She hasher feet up on the table and is reading the book "Diary of aMadman".

INT. JAMES ROOM DAY

James and Emily are lying on his bed cuddling. They arewatching TV but not paying attention to it. They rub nosesand smile a lot at each other. They kiss each other softlyand lovingly. They lie there spooning and James turns offthe lights by clapping twice. They go to sleep.

A very faint light can be seen on his blinds. It goes acrosshis window, and then doubles back. The whole time it isgetting slightly bigger, but never reaches the size of abasketball.

FADE OUT

INT. JAMES ROOM MORNING

James is lying in bed. He is passed out asleep and his phonevibrates, he has a text message. He is still asleep. Itvibrates again. This time he wakes up. He rolls over andchecks his phone, there are 3 text messages. The first is

*Hey babe, I went to the harbor to meet Jess, I should beback before 2. Love you.*

He reads the next.

*You’re probably still asleep, but blahh I’m bored, she’ssuper late.*

He clicks the third one.

*God damn it, she totally flaked, if you wake up in the next20 minutes, call me and meet me down here for lunch.*

He sits up and calls Emily. He gets up and starts to getready.

JAMESSo she bailed on you?

EMILYYeah, she’s such a flake, I’m sosick of her always doing this atthe last second.

JAMES

Yeah, well you should stop makingplans with her if she keepstreating you this way.

EMILYI know, but she’s my sister.

JAMESI know, I know.

He starts the shower.

EMILYWhat’s that?

JAMESOh I just started the shower, I’llmeet you there in like 15 minutes.

He waits for her to hang up.

EXT. HARBOR DAY

James and Emily are looking at the different boats, they areeating ice cream.

EMILYAh, I’m so excited for the lake!

JAMESYeah, it’s going to be so much fun.

EMILYHas Stephen already decided whohe’s gonna bring?

JAMESI have no idea, he said he waseither gonna bring Melissa, Katie,Sarah, Big Melissa, Laura, Crissy,or Britney.

EMILYWow, that’s got to be a toughdecision.

JAMESYeah, well knowing him, it’ll justbe whoever he wakes up with.

EMILYWell, I hope that this time she canspeak english, because it was tooawkward when he tried to bring thatchinese girl to my sisters wedding.

JAMESShe was an exchange student, shespoke some english.

She hits him and laughs.

James pulls her in close and they kiss. It’s cute.

INT. STEPHENS HOUSE DAY

James walks up to the front door. It’s cracked open. Hewalks inside. The place is a bit messy. Girls clothes arejust thrown about randomly. A bra is hanging from a lamp.

JAMESStephen?

He walks around and heads towards Stephen’s room. He cracksthe door open and looks inside.

JAMESHey man, you awake?

Stephen wakes up and a girl is lying next to him.

STEPHENWha-- what’s up man?

Another girl on the otherside of him pops up.

GIRL 1Who’s that?

STEPHENThat’s James, my bestfriend sincewe were 8.

James walks in. He looks at both of them awkwardly.

GIRL 1Oh hi, I’m Jessica.

JAMESHi.

He awkwardly shakes her hand. The other girl looks up.

GIRL 2I’m Alexis.

JAMESHi, yeah I’m James.

He shakes her hand too.

STEPHENSo what are you doing here soearly?

JAMESEarly? Man it’nearly 2pm.

He opens the blinds and the light shines in really quickly.All 3 of them on the bed get pissed and hide under thecovers.

JAMESCome on man, you got to get up. Wehave plans remember?

Muffled from under the blankets.

STEPHENI don’t wanna.

James goes towards the end of the bed and pulls the blanketoff them, revealing a third girl at the foot of the bed.

JAMESOh, hi. I’m James.

He shakes her hand.

GIRL 3Adrianna.

JAMESOk girls, it’s time to go, Stephenhere needs to get up and get hisresults back from the doctor abouthis herpes. You.... three shoulddefinitely go get checked out tooif you know what’s smart for you.

The girls get up and are pissed at Stephen.

The other girls get up and are mad at Stephen.

The girls leave and are getting their stuff.

JAMES3 girls? Really?

STEPHENWhat? I had an art exhibit lastnight and they were all friends, soI invited them all over, one thinglead to another and then well youshowed up.

JAMES

STEPHENSo what brings you to my humbleabode?

JAMESYou’re ready for the lake right?

STEPHENDo I look ready?

James looks around and everything is a bit of a mess.

JAMESI guess, so who are you bringing?

STEPHENI don’t know, I think I might justgo solo this year.

He smiles. James throws a pillow at him and hits him in theface.

JAMESCome on get up. The cars packed andwe’re waiting on you.

STEPHENOk, ok.

INT. CAR DAY

They are all driving up to Lake Havasu. They are jokingaround and being obnoxious.

EXT. LAKE DAY

Shots of them having fun. They are swimming, being on aboat. Walking around the lake.

EXT. LAKE NIGHT

James and Emily are lying looking at the millions of stars.

JAMESEmily...

She looks at him.

EMILYYeah?

He looks at her lovingly. Then kisses her.

JAMESI love you.

They kiss again.

EMILY

I love you too. So much.

JAMESI don’t know what I’d do with outyou.

She kisses him again and they lie there. We see something inthe trees watch them. James notices it too.

JAMESStephen? That you?

EMILY

What are you doing?

JAMESI thought I saw...

EMILYStephen’s at the bar, there’s noway he’d be back yet.

JAMESBut I saw...

She looks up and the thing is gone.

EMILYThere’s nothing there, you’re justbeing paranoid.

JAMESOk... I could have sworn...

EMILYI’m the only thing you need tofocus on. Ok?

He goes back and kisses her again. The alien steps back outat watches them.

INT. CAR DAY

They are driving back. Emily and James are holding hands.Stephen is passed out in the back sleeping. They get backand it’s nearly night. James drops off Stephen.

STEPHENAlright ladies, that was one hellof a weekend.

JAMESYeah man. It was fun.

STEPHENBye you guys.

EMILYBye, Stephen.

He heads inside.

James pulls up in front of Emily’s house.

JAMESOk, well I’ll talk to you tomorrow.

EMILYOk cool.

They get out and he helps her with her stuff.

EMILY

This weekend was the most fun I’vehad in a LONG time.

They walk up to her front door.

JAMESI agree, I needed to just get away.It was so nice to just relax withyou guys.

EMILYAlright well I’m beat.

She hugs him and they kiss.

JAMESBye.

They smile and kiss again. He walks back to his car anddrives off.

INT. JAMES ROOM NIGHT

James walks into his room and drops his stuff. He flops downonto his bed and the moment he hits the pillow he fallsasleep.

Lights pass his window. One passes and then stops at it. Thelight starts to flash. James is lying in his bed and hestarts to levitate upwards. He gets out of bed and walkstowards the front door.

Weird noises are happening. He opens the front door and asuper bright light flashes. The screen burns out to white.

EXT. WOODS DAY

James wakes up in the middle of the woods. He looks aroundand is confused. He gets up and there’s a flash of an alien

symbol. He falls down and can’t figure out what’s going on.

He gets up and starts to walk back towards his house.

EXT. STREET MORNING

James is walking along and is in his pajamas and isbarefoot.

CUTS TO

EXT. PARKING LOT DAY

He is crossing through a parking lot, there are no carsthere.

EXT. OUTSIDE HIS HOUSE DAY

James walks up to his house and walks inside.

INT. HOUSE DAY

He walks towards the bathroom and looks at himself in themirror. There is a twig in his hair and he pulls it out.

JAMESWhat the hell happened...

He looks at himself in the mirror and the symbol flashesagain. He jumps back scared. He splashes water onto his faceand takes a deep breath. His phone vibrates and he answersit real fast.

JAMESHello???

EMILYHey, whatcha doin?

He is really short with her.

JAMESWhat?!

EMILYWhat are you doing?

JAMES

Why are you calling it’s like 6 inthe morning.

EMILYWhat are you talking about? It’salmost 9 at night??? I haven’t beenable to reach you all day. What’sgoing on with you?

JAMESWhat?

He pauses and looks around.

EMILYHello?

JAMESYeah, sorry I’m here. I’ve been...asleep all day, I’m just reallydisoriented sorry.

EMILYOh it’s ok. I know you’re wiped outfrom the trip and all the driving.

JAMESSo what’s up?

EMILYOh I was just curious if you wantedto just do like a laid back movienight or something.

James is distracted and isn’t paying attention.

He hangs up abruptly.

INT. JAMES ROOM DAY

James is sitting in a chair his leg is shaking. He isrunning his finger on his desk in the same shape thatflashed earlier. There is a knock at the door and he gets upreal fast. Emily’s at the door.

EMILYHey...

She walks in and they kiss.

JAMESHey, sorry about the phone earlier.I was feeling kinda dizzy and was abit distracted.

EMILYOh don’t worry about it. So Ibrought over a couple choices. Iwas thinking though that we couldwatch your favorite.

JAMESOh cool, I haven’t watched it inforever.

INT. LIVING ROOM NIGHT

James and Emily are cuddled on the couch watching the movie.She is asleep on his shoulder. He is drawing the symbol hesaw on her shoulder while staring out the window ignoringthe TV.

INT. SCHOOL DAY

James is sitting in his class. He looks around and faintlysmiles at the person next to him. He pulls out his math bookand is flustered. He exhales as he is ready to just enjoyhis class and not think of anything else.

TEACHERNow today class last week we talkedabout how the mongols nearly tookover all of...

James looks around and realizes he brought the wrong binder.He slowly puts his book away and just sits there.

INT. JAMES ROOM DAY

James is on the computer researching sleep walking. He readsa bunch of different sites. Nothing is as bad as what hedid. The flash of the symbols happens again and he pushesback from his computer.

He hurridly gets a piece of paper and a pen. He draws out

what he just saw. He stares at the paper and the musicslowly builds. There is a knock at the door. James breakshis stare and looks up. He walks towards the door andanswers it.

EMILYHi!!!!!!

JAMESHey... what are you doing here?

EMILYCome on, I want to take you tolunch. My treat.

JAMESOh I’m good, I don’t think I’mfeeling very well.

EMILYOh ok...

She’s disappointed, especially since she made the trip over.

JAMES

Why didn’t you call?

EMILYI don’t know, I wanted to surpriseyou. Sorry...

JAMESNo, I’m sorry, it’s ok. I reallyappreciate it. My stomach has justbeen killing me.

EMILYIm sorry babe. Do you need

anything?

JAMESNo I’m good.

EMILYOk... well... I’m gonna go then.

JAMESI’m sorry, let me walk me to yourcar.

They walk out to her car and she pulls him in to kiss him

when they get to her cardoor. He pulls back.

EMILYWhat the hell James?

JAMESI’m sorry, I don’t want to get yousick.

EMILYAre you kidding me? I love you Idon’t care.

She kisses him and he kisses her back. She leaves. As hewalks back to his house he is starting to get dizzy. He rubshis eyes. The world starts to spin around him. He stumblesinto his room and his phone vibrates.

It says *I love you :)* and he flops down on his bed. Thewhole room is spinning now, he tries to respond but onlygets to I lov-- and he passes out.

EXT. WOODS NIGHT

Shots of the sky in fast motion of the moon slowly passing.

EXT. HOUSE NIGHT

Shots of the moon/sky but at his house.

FADE OUT

EXT. OUTSIDE STEPHENS HOUSE DAY

James is violently knocking on Stephen’s door. Stephenanswers.

STEPHENWhoa calm down there man, you’re

going to break my door down.

James just walks in.

JAMESWhat do you know about sleepwalking?

STEPHENI don’t know, you shouldn’t wake asleep walker up or they’ll die.Why?

JAMES3 or 4 nights ago I woke up in themiddle of the woods. I don’t knowhow the hell I got there.

STEPHENJesus, really?

JAMESYeah. I’ve been freaking out, eversince. I’ve been sleeping for dayson end, I can barely eat. I don’tknow what the hell is happening tome.

Stephen is concerned.

STEPHENHoly shit man, have you been to adoctor?

JAMESNo, not yet. I don’t know, you’rethe first person I’ve told.

Stephen looks at him concerned.

STEPHENTrue. Well I don’t know man, maybeyou were abducted by aliens.

James semi laughs and then slowly starts to think.

JAMESI need to go.

JAMESNo, I really need to go. I’ll talkto you later man.

He gets up and leaves. Stephen closes the door.

STEPHENWell that was weird.

A girl calls out from his bedroom.

He shrugs James off and turns back.

STEPHEN

Coming darling.

EXT. OUTSIDE HIS HOUSE DAY

James pulls up real fast and screeches to a halt. He sprintsout and doesn’t even close his car door. He runs and gets onhis computer. He searches alien abductions. He findsdifferent stories, he reads some aloud to himself.

None of the stories mean anything until he finds a policereport that says the victim experienced the exact same stuffhe’s been experiencing. It briefly mentions the symbol. He

looks down and sees the symbol on the piece of paper. Herealizes that he might have been abducted by aliens.

JAMESShit.

INT. EMILY’S CAR DAY

They are driving and James is looking out the window. Shelooks at him kind of pissed, but concerned.

INT. RESTAURANT DAY

James is eating breakfast for lunch and Emily is just eatinga normal lunch, whatever the hell the actress wants to eatat the time.

EMILYWhy are you eating breakfast? It’snearly 3.

JAMESI don’t know... It looked good and

was on the menu...

They sit together in silence for about 10 seconds.

EMILYWhat the hell is going on with you?Ever since we got back from Havasuyou’ve been completely different,have I done something wrong?

Emily rolls her eyes and is fed up with James.

She gets up in anger.

James gets up to follow her.

No, James, I’ve tried to wait, it’sbeen nearly a week since we’ve gotback from the lake and you’ve beenacting weirder and weirder.

JAMESI know, I’m sorry. I swear, let memake it up to you. Please?

The old James is back, he smiles at her and takes her hand.

EMILYOk. I just care about you, I’m

worried.

JAMESI know, and I promise, you won’thave to worry any more.

She looks at him confused. She wants more then anything tobelieve him but she can’t.

JAMESCome on, let’s finish our lunch.

EMILY

Ok...

They walk back inside.

INT. JAMES ROOM NIGHT

James is sitting at his desk, he is drawing the symbol overand over again. A car passes by his window illuminatingeverything.

JAMESI’m not crazy. I know it happened.This can’t just be coincidence.

He leans back and looks up at the ceiling. He tosses a ballup in the air and catches it. He exhales.

JAMESI’m not crazy.

He drops the ball and gets up to go get it. A car lightpasses by his window again but this time there is a personat the window. James walks towards his window because heknows that someone is there. He slowly gets closer andcloser, and then another car is coming by.

The light shines and nothing is there. He steps back andlies down on his bed.

JAMESI’m not crazy...

He falls asleep.

FADE TO BLACK

INT. ROOM NIGHT

James is lying in bed asleep. It’s nearly 3 am. A lightshines through his window again. The light hovers there. Itgets brighter and brighter. It then goes black.

CUTS TO

INT. FRONT DOOR NIGHT

The light shines at the front door. The front door opensslowly.

CUTS TO

INT. BEDROOM NIGHT

James is asleep and the light gets brighter and brighteroutside his bedroom door. It also begins to slowly open. Thelight seeps into his room. A creature thing slowly walks inand stands over his bed. It slightly tilts it’s head as itwatches him sleep. The music builds.

CUTS TO

INTS. BEDROOM DAY

The sun is shining into his room bright and he wakes up. Helooks around his room suspiciously, as if he knows thatsomeone was in here. He gets up and puts his glasses on. Hechecks his phone and he has a text message.

*Hope you have a good day at school <3*

He looks up at the clock and sees that it’s nearly 11.

JAMESShit.

He jumps out of bed.

CUTS TO

EXT. OUTSIDE JAMES HOUSE DAY

He is dripping wet and in normal clothes and jumps into hiscar and speeds off.

EXT. OUTSIDE COLLEGE DAY

He is driving around.

JAMESDamn it!

He can’t find any parking because Saddleback always is busywhen you are late and that’s just life. He finally does andhe is really far away.

He is running to his class. As he is going up the stairs heaccidentally bumps into a girl walking down. He drops hisbinder and his papers go flying.

JAMES

Oh my god I’m so sorry.

SEXY COLLEGE SCHOOL GIRLNo, no, no it was my fault.

JAMESIm such a klutz I wasn’t evenwatching where I was going.

She helps him pick up his papers and he doesn’t look up ather. They get all his papers and both stand up.

SEXY COLLEGE SCHOOL GIRLIs everything ok?

He looks at her and she is backlit. She smiles at him and itcuts really quickly to the alien standing over his bed.James jumps back and looks at her scared. He grabs hispapers and leaves. She walks away confused and taken aback.



24.

INT. CLASSROOM DAY

James walks in late and everyone stares at him. He sits downand gets his book out.

TEACHER

As I was saying...

The teacher fades out and James sits there ignoringeveryone. He is drawing the symbol onto a piece of paper.His eyes start to get heavy and as soon as his eyes close hehears a small knock on the window. James looks at it. Thelight shines it extra bright. The backlit figure appears andJames is transfixed.

JAMESI knew it.

He gets up and looks at the window, he walks towards it.

Everyone else in the class is frozen in time, but he doesnot notice them. He walks towards the window, the musicbuilds intensely.

He reaches his hand out and the backlit figure does so aswell. As soon as he touches the window a loud boom and itscares James awake. He yells. Everyone looks at him.

TEACHERExcuse me, James, what seems to bethe problem.

JAMES

Did you not hear...

TEACHERI heard you yell. Yes.

James looks around and everyone is staring at him.

JAMESI uh... need to...

He gets up and takes his books and leaves. He walks down thehallway and everyone is staring at him.

EXT. COLLEGE CAMPUS DAY

He is walking outside looking around and a dark figure isthe background. James starts to get dizzy and faint. Hedrops his binder and falls. He is lying on the ground. Adark figure appears over him.

JAMESNo... no... don’t come near me.

He starts to scramble to get up. We see that it’s just a

RANDOM NICE BLACK MAN

What? What’d I do?

James scrambles up and rushes to his car. The man looks athim confused. James rushes to get in his car and drive off.

EXT. OUTSIDE JAMES HOUSE DAY

James parks his car and sits there. He gets out of the carand walks towards his house. He goes inside and sits in hisroom.

INT. ROOM DAY

James sits on his bed and turns his tv on. It’s just static.He turns on the next channel and then the next one. He keepschanging the channels and it’s all static. He turns the TVoff. He pulls out his phone to text Emily. It says

*I love you, how are you? sorry I’ve been acting different.*

He sends it and lays down on his bed. He looks around andlies there. He checks his phone to see if she responded. Shehasn’t. He lies there staring at his ceiling fan. He shutshis eyes and he sees the symbol flash. He opens them up

again and lies there just staring. He is mesmorized by thefan and slowly falls asleep.

DREAM (LOS ANGELES)

BRAAAAAAHM BRAAAAAAAHM BRAAAAAAAAAHM BRAAHHHHHHMMMMM

James is stading alone in the middle of a big city. He looksaround and there is nobody there. He starts to walk. Out ofnowhere the sun is shining bright. He looks around and seesa person standing on a sidewalk. He can’t see because he’sbeen blinded by the light.

He keeps running and he closes his eyes. His world starts tospin around him. He is sprinting and is now in a park.

DREAM (PARK)

He stops and there are people everywhere. He looks aroundbut they all ignore him. He is flustered and can not figureout how he got there. He walks up to a fountain and gets adrink. He looks up and sees a women in a red dress, the samewomen from before.

He stops drinking but the water’s still running. He looks upat her and she is not smiling, but staring at him. We don’tsee her speak but we hear her voice.

VOICE

It’s already been done. There’s noescape.

He looks down into the water and he sees his refelction. Hesees a light in the water and it gets brighter and brighteras if it’s coming for him. He moves backwards and trips. Hefalls and it cuts to him falling into water. The moment hehits the water he wakes up.

INT. JAMES ROOM DAY

He wakes up completely drenched in sweat. He stares at hishands and they are trembling. He just sits there. The fan ison full speed above him. He slowly gets up. He checks hisphone and there are no new messages. He leaves his room.

INT. KITCHEN DAY

James gets a glass and fills it up with tap water. He sitsdown in a chair and gentle piano music is starting to play,as if James could hear it. It slowly gets louder. Jamesstarts to fall asleep again. He drops the glass and it

shatters, this does not wake him. Instead of following himinto the dream world, we stay with him in reality.

The front door opens slowly. It slams shut, James doesn’teven flinch. Loud stomps, almost like a giant is walkingaround in the house are heard. They become louder andlouder, a big shadow appears over James body. We hear avibrate, such as a phone and Jame snaps out of his sleep.The shadow dissapears.

James looks around and nothing seems different for him. Hechecks his phone and it’s Emily. It says.

*Hey sweetheart, I got your text. Don’t feel bad, it’s myfault for being too clingy. Lets meet up and go hang out allnight. We can watch a movie at my house then go to Denny’suntil the sun comes up. It wil (James deletes the message).

He walks outside towards his backdoor and it’s raining.There is a knock at his front door. He turns and looksaround angrily. He goes to the door and answers it.

James is standing in the bathroom looking at himself in themirror. His hair is long. He grabs his clippers and startsto shave his head.

James is walking down the street. He crosses the street andwe see that he has shaved his head completely. We don’t seethe back of his yet.

The sun is setting and James and Kate are walking down the

beach. They are holding hands. They stop and she kisses him.He doesn’t really kiss her back. The waves are breaking inslow motion. He looks at her in the eyes.

He doesn’t and looks at her. He kisses her passionately andthey both are standing there together at the beach.

James wakes up. He puts on a shirt. He has become reallyskinny, like skinnier then normal. He puts on a shirt andruns his hand on his head.

INT. MALL DAY

James and Emily are sitting together at the mall like they

were earlier. He is not eating but has food in front of him.He is sitting there not moving and everyone around him ismoving very quickly. (Garden State)

It snaps him out of it and everyone starts walking normally.

Emily is sitting alone on a bench. The birds are chirpingand kids are playing on the play ground. She opens up theletter and reads it to herself. She drops it and starts tocry. We see that the letter was just a big drawing of thesymbol he became obsessed with.

INT. EMILY’S BEDROOM NIGHT

Emily goes to sleep. She has the letter by her bed. Sheturns off her light and falls asleep. A light shines throughher window and she starts to levitate upwards. The musicrises.
