Parent Governor Vacancy – September 2015

The governing body at Boughton Heath Academy comprises of 12 governors. There are 3 categories of governor, all of which carry equal status - parent governors, teaching staff governors, and co-opted governors, who are made up from people in the community.

The governing body meets three times each term as a whole but carries out much of its work in the Curriculum & Admissions Committee and the Finance & Staffing & Premises Committee. Each committee meets once a term.

Serving as a governor is a very rewarding experience as it provides opportunities to support and influence the school’s aims and ethos. Individual governors involve themselves in the life of the school in a variety of different ways. Boughton Heath Local Governing Body is looking for someone who will play an active role in supporting and challenging the school in order to improve outcomes for children. If you cannot attend all of the meetings (three each term) and give time to support the school on open days and other events please think carefully about applying.

The governing body now seeks to appoint one parent governor.

NOTICE OF ELECTION AND NOMINATION PAPER

NUMBER OF PARENT GOVERNOR VACANCIES: 1

Nominations are invited on the back of this form for the election of two parent governors to the governing body for a four-year period. Nominations must be returned no later than Friday 9th October at 3.15pm.Each candidate must be the parent of a registered pupil at the school at the time of the election and must agree to being nominated. Each nomination must be supported by a proposer and a seconder, (either of whom may be the partner of the candidate). A parent may not propose or second more than one candidate. The Principal will acknowledge all nominations within two days of receipt.

If there are more than two nominations, a ballot will be held. Candidates are therefore invited to provide a statement of not more than 150 words when submitting their nomination, which will be sent to parents with the ballot papers.

Nominations close: Friday 9th October at 3.15pm.

If no ballot required, result available: Monday 12th October 2015

If a ballot is required, ballot papers issued: Wednesday 14th October 2015

Ballot papers must be returned by: Friday 6th November 2015

Count and results available: Monday 9th November 2015
