A bewildered and silent Crystal M. Johnson, 28, appeared in Comanche County District Court Thursday afternoon with attorney John Zelbst and was charged with one felony count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for the unspecified affair with the 15yearold boy. Johnson, who was an English teacher and adjunct speech teacher at Sterling High School, was released on a $5,000 bond. The state asked for Johnson, a resident of Cyril, to be ordered to wear a GPS monitor in order for authorities to ensure she was not meeting the alleged victim in the case, but Zelbst argued that his client was facing financial constraints since losing her job and that the monitor would be an additional, unnecessary cost. Comanche County Special District Court Judge Joe B. Reeves ordered Johnson to have no further contact with the alleged victim, but did not order her to wear the monitor. If she violated the order of the court, however, the conditions of bond would be changed. The investigation into Johnson's alleged relations with the student began months ago, but Johnson has been fully cooperative with police throughout. Officials at the district attorney's office said Thursday they did not wish to comment on specifics of the pending case out of consideration for the legal process and the victim. An affidavit filed Thursday, however, said Johnson had been communicating with and visiting the student between June 1, 2013 and Nov. 23, 2013. Danni Wallace Jones Cameron UniversityHere is my question, will the school and other faculty be investigated or be heldresponsible in any way? The dean and numerous other faculty were made very aware ofthe situation from the very beginning. Many parents lodged complaints with him aboutthe situation and they were told to mind their own business. The faculty was made awareof this situation FROM the beginning. It has been treated as a running joke! The boy wasbasically given the ol' "atta boy!" by male teachers IN THE CLASSROOM IN FRONT OFOTHER STUDENTS. Despite numerous request from parents for something to be doneabout the situation, adminstration refused to investigate or do anything about it until aparent managed to capture a picture of the two together and basically dared them tocontinue to deny it. It has been public knowledge and a town/school joke from...See MoreReply Like Follow Post February 14, 2014 at 9:55pm
