UNT Spring 2019 Accounting Internship Interview Guidelines

• First Class Day, January 14, 2019

• Meet the Firms Night, February 7, 2019, 4-6 pm, Location: Gateway Center

• Spring Break is March 11-15, 2019

• On campus/Skype interviews are scheduled for March 18-29, 2019

• No office visit invitations can be communicated with the students until March 30, 2019

• April 1, 2019 social events; No office visits can occur until Monday, May 13, 2019

• Offers may be made after March 30, 2019. Students will have until Friday, June 7, 2019 to accept or decline an offer

• As soon as a student accepts an offer, they must promptly and respectfully decline any other offers

• There will be a “no-contact” period from May 3 through May 10, 2019. There should be no events or interviews during this period

• UNT Finals May 4-10, 2019

• Office visits can begin Monday, May 13, 2019

On-Campus Interviewing No-Show Policy

On-campus interviewing is taken seriously by UNT and the Career Center staff. Signing up for an on-campus interview is a commitment that is expected to be upheld.

Candidates may remove themselves from an interview schedule through the Eagle Careers system up to two working days prior to the on-campus interview. A cancellation occurring after this time will be considered a no-show.

Due to the professional nature of on-campus interviews, the following policy will be enforced when a candidate fails to cancel in a timely manner or fails to show up for a previously scheduled interview.

Candidates who no show for an interview will be suspended from using the Eagle Careers system. To restore access to the system, the candidate must complete the following steps:

1. Meet with Professor Ellis or Professor Zimmermann

2. Furnish a formal email of apology to the recruiter, which will be reviewed and approved during your appointment with Professor Ellis or Professor Zimmermann

Student Accountability and Policies after Accepting an Internship

Students must honor the acceptance of an offer as a contractual agreement with the employer. It is unacceptable to continue interviewing or making office visits after accepting an offer, or to back out on an accepted offer. Please do not represent yourself as being prepared to accept an offer unless you are prepared to do so. An offer is considered accepted once the student and the employer have jointly agreed to the terms of employment.

Students must respond to every offer, whether they accept or reject it. Upon the acceptance of a job offer you agree to:

Notify all other employers with whom you are a job candidate and withdraw yourselffrom further consideration

Notify Christine Ellis, ACCT Department Advisor of your acceptance

It is unacceptable to back out of an accepted offer. If a student accepts a written offer from an employer and later rescinds the acceptance, the student will be required to meet with Harvey Zimmermann or Christine Ellis to discuss basis for rescission and related penalties.

Use the following tips when you’re logged in to your Eagle Careers account:

UPDATE YOUR PROFILE• Click on “Profile” on the left side of the page• Edit your primary education section with yourmajor(s), GPA, and expected graduation date• Use the “Upload Resume” tool to autofill yourprofile from your resume• Add copies of your resume/cover letter/transcript to the “Documents” section for easyaccess.• Stand out to employers by filling out the varioussections of your profile and upload relevant worksamples

Employer Search• Click the “Jobs” link on the top of the page• Click on the “Employers” tab• Search for employers by name, location,employer type, or industry• On the employer’s EagleCareers page, viewany current jobs/internships they have posted,upcoming campus events they are attending, andon-campus interviews opportunities• Once you find an employer you are interestedin, you can click “Favorite” in the upper right handcorner of their employer page. You will receiveupdates when they post a new job, internship orevent on campus

On-Campus Interviews• Click the “Jobs” link on the top of the page• Click on the “Interviews” tab• Search for or select the employer you areinterviewing with• Most employers only allow you to sign up for aninterview after a pre-selection process. If you areselected you will be able to sign up for a time ontheir interview page

Events• Click “Events” link at the top of the page• See career workshops, employer panels, andonline events hosted by the UNT Career Center• Information sessions hosted by employers oncampus will also be listed under the events tab• Click “Search Fairs” tab to see informationabout upcoming career fairs on campus• When you have clicked on a career fair, click on“View All Employers” to see who will be attending• Click “View Details” under an employer’sname in the list to view more about them and jobopenings they have posted on Eagle Careers

Job/Internship Search• Click on the “Jobs” link at the top of the page• Under “Select Preferences” on the left side ofthe page, narrow down the results using filtersincluding location, major, job function, and USwork authorization• Select “Match All Employer Preferences” to onlyview positions for which you are fully qualified for based on major, GPA, graduation date, and work authorization• Favorite jobs/internships from the home pageand view those favorites by clicking “My FavoriteJobs” at the top• Save searches by selecting “Save these filters”• Set your default search by clicking “My SavedFilters” then click the four lines by your filter andselect “Make Default”
