Principles of Committed, Cheerful, Systematic Giving
1. We give based on the examples of Christ.
2. We give by putting aside, giving online, bringing, or sending to church.
3. We give according to how God has prospered us.
4. We give motivated by God’s grace.
5. We give in situations and circumstances that are difficult.
6. We give out of a generous heart.
7. We give sacrificially out of the proportions which God has blessed us.
8. We give voluntarily.
9. We give using the tithe as a benchmark.
10. We give an offering out of benevolent hearts.
11. We give in love.
12. We give in a worshipful and submissive manner.
The grace of God is the motivation of our giving
ANNOUNCEMENTS ANNOUNCEMENTS
Peace
You can receive Christ right now by faith through prayer. God knows your
heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude
of your heart.
Pray this prayer and Christ will come into your life: “Lord Jesus, I need
you. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my
life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my
sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life.
Make me the kind of person You want me to be.”
COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS
VIRGINIA TO AMERICA Narrative...Brelan Hillman
The 2019 Commemoration, a yearlong statewide initiative highlighting Virginia's 400 year influence on America, is seeking untold stories from Virginia and beyond to help tell a more accurate and inclusive narrative of our nation's evolution from Virginia to America. American Evolution Stories, a storytelling site designed to connect the present with the past, preserve stories throughout the Commonwealth and increase our collective understanding of our history. We're seeking stories focused on democracy, diversity and opportunity, and there are 20 categories ranging from civil rights, to entrepreneurship, culture and more.
Thank you...Brelan
SEASON OF ADVENT
The Season of Advent, the four Sundays prior to Christmas
Day and Christmas Day, is celebrated at The Creek as a special
period of reflection. On Christmas Day of the previous year,
the tradition is to give candles, representing the Season of
Advent: Hope, Peace, Joy, Love, and The Christ Candle,
to nine families. Throughout the year, in addition to praying
for their family, the families pray for our SCBC families.
During the Season of Advent the families light their candle
and share reflections of having the candle for the year. On
Christmas Day 2018, the candles will be passed to nine new
families. Families who received the candles on Christmas 2017:
Candle of Hope: Witcher Family & Kernodle Family
Candle of Peace: Fleming Family & Tannor Family
Candle of Joy: Reuben Holmes Family & Townes Family
Candle of Love: Kia Williams Family
The Christ Candle: Ryan Shepperson Family
