Another Earth Day has come and gone. In the past, WFEC

has hosted numerous school groups at one of the wind farms

we take power from. This year was a significant change as

everyone wanted to try something a little different.

WFEC sponsored an Earth day event on April 25 & 26, which

was held in Chickasha. The new format is structured to allow

students to pass through numerous Earth Day learning stations

and learn a little about a lot of different related subjects. After

attending the event, their teachers are provided information

that can be used to continue a related school study program

back in the class room.

At last count, barring weather or other disruption, between 1,500 and 2,000 children were scheduled

to be involved in the two day event.

We all need to give WFEC’s Marketing and Communications Department a lot of credit for coming

up with such a good idea, and then being adventurous enough to see it through to completion.

Save the Date! 2012 Retirement Planning Seminars WFEC invites employees who are within 10 years of retirement are invited to attend the 2012 Retirement Planning Seminars. Spouses are encouraged to join in. NRECA will send professional financial advisors to facilitate the programs. 2-Day Seminars – The focus is on understanding NRECA’s retirement plans, distribution options, estimating retirement expenses, investing before and during retirement, how IRAs work, Social Security, health care costs, estate planning and taxation. Three identical sessions will be held at the Mooreland plant, the WFEC Headquarters in Anadarko and at the Hugo plant. The seminar dates:

Outpost crews are invited to attend whichever program works best for them. Spouses are encouraged to join in. Employees will sign up for the seminars through PeopleSoft HR. You’ll need to fill in the Course number and the Session number. Here is the path: PeopleSoft HR > Self-Service > Learning and Development > Request Training Enrollment > Search by Course number (HR0040) > Pick a Session > Continue > Submit Request. PeopleSoft HR then sends this request to your supervisor. The supervisor will need to log into PeopleSoft HR to approve your request.

The Course number is: HR0040 (for all locations)

And the Winner Is…. Kari Miller!! With 423 points, Kari won the $3,000 “Journey to Wellness” drawing held on April 23 at the Anadarko headquarters. Kari is the wife of Steve Miller. Steve is a Lead Powerline Technician with T&D, working out of Anadarko. Miller started on WFEC’s lines in 1982.

Kari has participated in WFEC’s Journey to Wellness program for only two quarters, but has worked hard. She has logged many hours

walking and also does strength training. Kari is a Human Resources Specialist at CMS Willowbrook, a construction company in Chickasha.

Additional Winners: $100 each went to Heather Burns (spouse of Roger, Hugo warehouse), Bobby Wallace (electrical/HVAC technician, Hugo), Deborah Cody (spouse of Bobby, journeyman mechanic, Hugo) and Chris Crosley, (mechanic/operator, Anadarko plant).

Another round of tornados have swept through Oklahoma recently. Woodward and the surrounding area was hit on April 15. WFEC crews got right to work repairing the damage and restoring power. One structure was destroyed on the Woodward – Ft Supply Line, seven structures on the Fargo Jct. – Fargo Line, and seven structures were lost on the Fargo – Arnett Line. Also, another seven structures were destroyed on the Cherokee – Eagle Chief Line, and four on the Cherokee – Nash Line. All repairs were made within

It's never too early to start learning the importance of saving and financial fitness. Whether you're teaching them to put coins in a piggy bank or helping them find their first job, there are many opportunities to pass on good financial habits to the younger generation. This month we celebrate Teach Children to Save Day, an annual event focused on teaching kids the importance of saving. Here are a few tips and resources to help you get involved.

Make it fun. Saving doesn't always 04225 make sense to young kids at first, so help them understand and enjoy it by turning it into a game of sorts. One of the simplest ways to do this is with a piggy bank or jar. When the jar is full maybe you get to go out for ice cream, or on a family trip. Having an incentive to save will make them want to save more frequently. Each time they fill up the jar, deposit the money into their savings account and show them how it grows over time.

Give them responsibility. Teach children the importance of earning money by setting up a chore chart and awarding an allowance for completed tasks. Require them to save at least a small portion each week. You can also employ a multi-jar approach—with one for spending, one for saving and one for charity—to demonstrate different levels of financial responsibility.

Be open. The best way to help children understand finances is to have open and honest conversations with them about money. Explain how the household bills get paid every month, how you budget, how you balance your checkbook and how you determine to which charities you give, and encourage them to ask questions.
