FROM SCHOOL MANAGEMENT

Welcome to 2nd Term of 2018-2019 Academic Year.

Alhamdulillah, we have come to 2019. Happy New Year from AIUIS management team. May all of you have another year filled with good health, love and laughter. As we dive into the second term of the academic year, we deliver to you our quarterly school bulletin - ‘AIUISPEAK’.

‘AIUISPEAK’ symbolises the ‘voice’ of the school as well as our medium to share with all our readers the exciting events that have happened, and are about to happen in the near future as well as welcoming new students, families and also new members of our staff team.

Mr. Michael Yuen (from Australia) comes with a wealth of experience and join us as our English teacher and will oversee Year 3 to Year 6. Mdm. Nurul Izzati also join us wth a great deal of teaching experience as a Bahasa Malaysia teacher and will oversee Year 1 to Year 3 as well as leading Year 1 class.

Hence, in this newsletter, we will share with you some highlights of the previous term. As you read on, we hope that your hearts will be filled with pride and joy on these students’ achievements.

PREVIOUS ACTIVITIES FLASH BACK

The first term in Academic Year 2018-2019 was filled with a lot of exciting events in school. The following activities were held in the first term in Academic Year 2018-2019.

Open Day - 3rd November 2018 - School Open Day is an event held at school where the doors are open to the general public to allow people to look around the school and learn about it. We want to increase awareness to all people in Kedah that theres a school called AIU International School and to attract potential students to join our school.

Around 500 parents came to our open day and visited all the demo stations: Video Presentation, ICT Class Demonstration, Exhibition Room, Interactive Smart Board Class Demonstration, Ipad Class, English Class, Archery Class and Swimming Class. The parents were amazed with our facilities and technology.

AIU International School collaborated with Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri (JPN) Kedah to make the event more successful. Colouring Contest and Hafazan Competition were conducted during the AIUIS Open Day.

AIUIS Management would like to express our gratitude to all those who have contributed directly and indirectly to the success of our OPEN DAY.

English Language Week - 12th-16th November 2018 - Our theme this year was “To Love, To Enjoy and To Explore”. All the children from Grade 1 to 6 had a fantastic English week. The aim of this event in school was to promote the learning of English. Academic staff organised a wide range of activities for our children throughout the week such as colouring competition, spelling bees, handwriting competition, quizzes, poster competition, poem writing competition and the explore race. The children loved taking part in these activities that no doubt had helped improve their English skills!

Bahasa Malaysia Week - 12th-14th September 2018 - Patriotic Week - Bahasa Melayu Week was led by our BM teacher, Mr. Zahir. It was held to instill patriotism among students so that they develop love for the country. Many activites were carried out during the week such as drawing contest, poem reading, spelling contest, crossword puzzle, quiz and many more.

ANALYSIS OF EVALUATIONS ON PARENT FEEDBACKEnd of Term 1 Academic Year 2018/2019 we sent our annual parent survey and received around 80% responses. Once again the parents rated our school really well. Some of the key responses included the following:

• 44% respondent strongly agree and are thankful towards school and teachers which provides a very safe and nurturing environment to their child as well as express their happiness with the constant update from the school regarding their personal concern and child progress.• 50% respondent agree with the excellent achievements and improvement in their child education.• 4% respondent disagree with the school on matters related to their child skills development in writing, reading and mathematics and want more effort from the teachers in this related matters.• 2% parents strongly disagree and felt that the school does not keep them well informed and don’t response to their concern.The school management would like to thanks all parents for your valuable feedback and invite parent(s) who have any concern or issues to come and discuss it with the school management team with a prior appointment during office hours ( 8:30 am to 4:30 pm), to ensure that all parents concerns are well addressed and are well informed about the school related matters.Hence, We are proud to share with you the most encouraging comments from parents.“ AIU International School has the comprehensive education, from class learning and outdoor activities which meets my child’s needs, my special thanks to all teachers”.“ I know its not easy to teach a child, but the teachers patience and dedication has made my child enjoy coming to school, I’m really happy and thankful to all teachers and staff”Once again, thank you for all your support and looking for your continuous support in year 2019.
