What is Unlisted share?
Equity shares of a company that are not listed on the Stock Exchanges are calledunlisted equity shares.
The shares of unlisted can be bought by existing shareholders who are eligible to sell the
shares to any other investors in the open market. The existing shareholders generallyinclude current employees and ex-employees, private equity investors, retail investors,institutional investors etc.
What is Pre IPO Shares?
Equity shares of a company for which the DRHP has been filed with SEBI to come withInitial Public Offering on the stock exchange.
Similar to Unlisted shares, the shares of unlisted can be bought by existing shareholders
who are eligible to sell the shares to any other investors in the open market. The existing
shareholders generally include current employees and ex-employees, private equityinvestors, retail investors, institutional investors etc.
What is ESOP share?
Equity shares of a company that are given to employees of that company.
The employees can sell those shares that has been vested and are eligible to sell it in the
open market.
What is Alternative Investment Funds?
Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) are SEBI regulated funds managed by professionalManagers. These funds invests in securities of Real Estate Companies, Listed Stocks,Unlisted Companies, Private Companies, and Startups.
The initial investments in AIFs is done directly by subscribing into the fund’s units. Eachindividual funds has its own structure of investments criteria, paying the returns to theinvestors, and redemption criteria & process. Typically, these funds are set up for a
periodof 5 to 7 years.
An investor can also buy the units of the funds from secondary market from existinginvestors and getting it registered with the fund.
Are Unlisted shares available in Demat Format?
As per the new regulation of SEBI, shares that are in Demat format only are tradable.
