Using the SpeedGrader

1. View SpeedGrader Important: The SpeedGrader allows you to view and grade student assignment submissions in one place. The
speed grader allows you sort student submissions, hide student names anonymous grading, and view assignment submissions details for each student.
You can access SpeedGrader through: Assignments, Quizzes, Graded Discussions, and the Gradebook.
SpeedGrader includes several areas to help you locate and view student submissions, grade submissions, and add comments to submissions.

Click the Gradebook Icon to return back to the Gradebook.

Click the Mute Icon to mute or unmute the assignment. Muting the assignment will hide its grade from the student view.

Click the Settings Icon to view the SpeedGrader settings.

Select "Options" to edit student list sorting options and enable anonymous grading.Click "Save Settings" for the changes to take effect.

Select "Keyboard Shortcuts" view the list of keyboard shortcuts for SpeedGrader.

4. Student List
By default, the SpeedGrader shows all sections.
If your course has more than one section, you can select a specific section to view.
Students are identified with an assignment submission status next to their names:- Green checkmark: indicates the assignment has been graded.- Orange dot: indicates the assignment has not been graded or has been re-submitted.- No checkmark and a greyed out name: indicates the assignment has not been submitted.- Grey checkmark: indicates the assignment is moderated and has already been graded by another grader.

5. Student Submission
The selected student's submission is displayed in the preview window.Depending on the assignment and submission type, the SpeedGrader preview window may vary.
A website URL submission type will appear in the main body of SpeedGrader with the option to open the URL in a new tab.

Media submissions may display as an embedded file in SpeedGrader or only display as a downloadable file.

File submissions of file types supported by Docviewer (such as .doc, docx, ppt, pptx, and pdf) will be rendered by the Docviewer.
You can use the DocViewer to add annotation to file submission assignment.

Text Entry submissions can be previewed in the SpeedGrader.
Paper view allows you to see the submission with formatting and embedded content. Plain Text View displays plain text with no formatting or embedded content.

6. Sidebar
The sidebar provides all the details about the submission for the student shown in the student list.

The "Submission to view" displays the date and time of the submission. Click the drop down to view previous submissions of the assignment.

If an assignment was submitted late or is not the most recent submission, the submission details will include a note indicating the status.
If the assignment is a file submission, you can click the file name to download the submission.

Enter the assignment grade in the "Grade" field.

Enter the feedback comments for the student in the "Assignment Comments" field .
You can also attach a file or media comment, or add comment using the text-to-speech tool.
