University of Providence BSN Application

Application to the BSN program is a two-step process. If you are not already a University of Providence student, you must apply to the University at this link: https://www.uprovidence.edu/explore-programs/undergraduate/apply-now/

This is an accelerated (12 month) course of study designed for persons who: are not already licensed RNs; have completed a previous bachelor's degree in another field; OR have 66 college credits including the UP Core Curriculum. All applicants must have completed nursing pre-requisites by December 15th; and be able to dedicate themselves to full time study. University of Providence maintains clinical sites in Lewistown, MT Anchorage, AK and Medford, OR.

The BSN placement decision is based upon available resources (clinical sites and faculty) and candidate qualifications, including:

• All nursing science pre-requisite courses work completed with a “C+” (GPA 2.5)• Completion of pre-requisite courses by December 15th.• Completed previous bachelor's degree in another field OR• Completion of a minimum of 66 college credits including the UP Core Curriculum by December

15th

• Completion of urine drug screen and background check through CastleBranch® by June 1stOther admission criteria which may be considered include:

• Relevant healthcare experience• Providence St. Joseph Health employee/dependent status with a minimum of 6 months

of employment• University of Providence Pre-Nursing Students with completion of at least 24 credits

at the university• Clinical site community member (Lewistown, MT; Anchorage, AK; Medford, OR*)• Diversity, including cross cultural experiences which contribute to a diverse

workforce• Interview of qualified applicants

TIMELINES • April 1st - June 1st: Applications will be accepted. Official transcripts must be submitted for any courses

completed at the time of university application.

• Email the completed nursing program application to nursing@uprovidence.edu by deadline of June 1st

• June 1st: Background check and urine drug screen must be completed through CastleBranch®

• July 15th: Notification of qualified applicants of placement offer

• Please Note: One-week prior to semester start, there is a required face to face program orientation.Accepted applicants will receive further information in the placement offer letter

* The January 2021 start of the University of Providence Accelerated BSN program in Medford, Oregon is pending final approval from the Oregon State Board of Nursing. We anticipate knowing if it has been fully approved after the Board meeting scheduled in mid-June 2020 and will continue to proceed with plans for the program to begin in January. However, in the spirit of transparency, we wanted to let you know of this development so that you are aware of the potential impact to the start of this program.
