Application Procedures Exchange and Visiting/Non degree-seeking Students • DEADLINES
See below for the date that corresponds to your desired first term at the University of Oregon and/or at the UO American English Institute (AEI). If you are unable to comply with the deadline, please inform your mobility or study abroad coordinator at your university or provider.

• DOCUMENTS
To be considered for acceptance to the University of Oregon exchange or visiting/non degree-seeking programs, you must provide the items listed below to the mobility or study abroad coordinator at your university or provider by the deadlines listed above. The mobility or study abroad coordinator at your university or provider will then send the documents electronically. Your acceptance will be delayed if any of these forms are incomplete or if there are any missing documents. Application form Complete the UO Exchange App 2017-2018. The form can be filled up on your computer. If you are unable to fill it on a computer, please write legibly or type. All questions must be answered. Statement of purpose Write a one-page statement in English indicating why would you like to study at the University of Oregon. • Graduate students: please be very specific by indicating your field/s of research at your current university, what you hope to learn at
the University of Oregon and, specifically, in the department where you hope to be placed in. Indicate specific faculty members you hope to work with and learn from.
Transcripts and degree certificates Provide copies of all university transcripts and, if applicable, any degree certificates that you have earned. If the original document is not in English, please provide both a copy of the original document along with an English translation. All documents must be verified and/or certified by your university or provider. Do not send any high school documentation. Additional departmental requirements Architecture, Art, Design and Music-related majors have additional requirements such as an electronic portfolio/performance, higher TOEFL scores and more than one recommendation letter. Please inquire with [email protected] for details. • Graduate students: all majors require at least one faculty recommendation letter from faculty. Please inquire for specific details on
your major with [email protected]. • Graduate students: all majors require a curriculum vitae (CV)
English language proficiency If your native language is not English, please provide a copy of the official result of a standardized language test to show English language proficiency. Passport Provide a copy of your passport bio page. If your passport is expired, please provide a copy of your renewed passport bio page as soon as possible. Financial documentation U.S. immigration policy requires you to show sufficient available financial resources to support yourself while studying at the University of Oregon. You must, therefore, provide financial documents (yours and/or your family’s) verifying that you have funds available that meet or exceed the estimated “Costs not covered by the University of Oregon” as indicated in the Financial Information sheet. Accordingly, please complete the Declaration of Finances form.
• APPLICATION PROCESS
Once the mobility or study abroad coordinator at your university or provider sends your application via e-mail to [email protected], your application will be reviewed and, upon approval, an acceptance packet and immigration documents will be produced and sent to you. This process may take up to two months during busy periods. Do not hesitate to contact [email protected] for any questions or concerns.

Living off campus or purchasing used supplies can save you money. If you already have insurance, you may be able to waive the UO insurance fee – see the Insurance Waiver Criteria sheet. Some art, architecture, biology, dance, sports and outdoor classes have special fees to pay for lab equipment, special programs, trips, supplies, or studio fees: these costs range between $50 to $100 and are not covered by the exchange! Also, remember that you are responsible to pay your bill on time, or you will be charged late fees!

You will be responsible for all additional expenses while you are studying at the UO.
