INDIGENOUS COMMUNITYThe U of M is home to a thriving community of over 2,000 First Nations, Métis and Inuit students, and offers a wide network of services for Indigenous students. Migizii Agamik – Bald Eagle Lodge serves as students’ home away from home and houses the Indigenous Student Centre where students can meet with advisors and mentors to receive academic, financial, cultural, career and personal advice. Public speaking and mentorship programs, such as the Indigenous Circle of Empowerment, give students the confidence and know-how to become leaders in their community, while Access and Aboriginal Focus Programs provide academic, financial and tutoring support to students overcoming social, economic, geographic and academic barriers.

STUDENT SUPPORTStudents with accessibility issues are encouraged to connect with Student Accessibility Services (SAS) to arrange a consultation. SAS can provide assistance for students with a wide range of accessibility needs, from note taking services to interpreters and counselling.

COLLEGESColleges provide facilities and programs to create a community within a community for U of M students. For a nominal fee (usually under $20), students can join one of our four colleges – St. John’s College, St. Paul’s College, St. Andrew’s College, or University College – and take advantage of exclusive scholarship support, access to unique facilities and smaller class sizes. Services, facilities and available financial supports vary by college.

ATHLETICS AND RECREATIONAll U of M students have access to our newly opened, state-of-the-art Active Living Centre and other diverse recreation and fitness facilities (such as an indoor pool, year-round ice rink and more). Students interested in playing men’s and women’s varsity-level sports at the U of M are encouraged to contact the coach for their sport of interest for information about tryouts. Contact information for coaches can be found in the staff directory on the Bison Sports website.
