• 18-24 year olds are the biggest copiers of music. Nearly 70% have illegally downloaded.
• 75% of people said the reason for illegal downloading is because it is free and saves money.
• 60% of a young person’s music budget goes towards live gigs.
• 14% of the average CD collection is ripped/burnt
• There are on average 1770 tracks on a person’s MP3 player. 48% of this music in not paid for.
• 80% of those who illegal download admit they are willing to pay a small fee to allow them to share and download music legally.
• Only 8% of 14-17 year olds do not own an MP3 player.
• Less than 50% of people knew the correct laws with regard to copyright.
