Curriculum vitae

Curriculum VitaeRobbert Havekes was born on April 29 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. He attended the first three years of the Atheneum in Raalte and than moved to Apeldoorn where he finished the Atheneum in 2003. He studied Biology at the University of Groningen from 1998 to 2003. His first research project was supervised by Dr. Menno Gerkema and Dr. Eddy van der Zee at the Department of Chronobiology. The major aim of this project was to investigate whether the circadian system plays a crucial role in time-place learning. For his second re-search project he worked at the Department of Molecular Neurobiology under supervision of Dr. Eddy van der Zee. In this project, the function of the protein phosphatase calcineurin in learning and memory processes was studied. He graduated in 2003. Robbert worked as a graduate student at the Department of Molecular Neurrobiology under supervision of Dr. Eddy van der Zee and Prof. Paul Luiten. The work he performed there is described in this thesis. Since September 2007 he works as a post-doc fellow in the group of Dr. Ted Abel at the Department of Biology of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA. This project is granted by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), Rubicon-Grant 825.07.029 RH. This project concerns the role of cAMP/PKA signaling within subregions of the hippocampus in learning and memory processes.
