WJO - Introduction
The WJO is an integral part of the Engineering process flow as it bridges the gap between the design phases and the actual installation of components.
It requires integration with the Document Control Center upstream and procurement downstream. This tool allows engineers and designers a way of realizing their designs.

WJO - Brief History
The precursor to the Web Job Order stems from a paper based form that engineers/designers would fill out prior to handing off to a procurement liaison.
Back in the late 1990s, an effort was made to convert the process to the digital realm by our centralized IT staff. This system, as it exists today, closely mimics the original paper form.

WJO – Redevelop Decision
Core users identified need to replace existing interface
Cited reasons for upgrade:
• User interface dated and input mechanisms were tedious
• Attachments were prone to transfer failures• Document Control integration was wanting• Enables better tracking for projects, procurements,
fabrication, assembly, and installation• Better support since original development team in IT
dissolved• Opportunity to integrate the process better with our
workflow

• Tight integration with WBS of Engineering Fabrication projects through category codes
• Capture all labor and PO/Pcard costs under a single account number

Control Center (a CAD neutral release repository) in addition to being an important hub in the design process

WJO – Current Status
• The new WJO is accessible at wjo2.lbl.gov• Both systems will continue to run in parallel for the
next month• Any JO started on either system requires completion
in the same system
• Beginning in October this year, the new WJO and all of the lab’s financial infrastructure will have significant changes (known as F$M)
