Old Town
By Mel,Maggie,Filip,Heidi
History1) 1850s: German-Catholic immigrants began to
settle here.
1) St. Michael’s Church: 1 of the 7 churches to
survive the Great Chicago Fire.
3) Tense racial division between north of North Ave.
and south of North Ave in the 1970s and 1980s
after the Martin Luther King assassination.
4) Story goes you only really live in Old Town if you
can hear the bells of St. Michael’s church.
It is important to stress that there is no such legal entity
as Old Town. Old Town is where you make it.
