61691c-61692c Air to Passive Coil Conversion Kit • Unity Automotive When servicing any vehicle be sure to follow all safety procedures. First, make sure that when lifting the vehicle that you are using the appropriate jack for the weight of the vehicle. Make sure before going underneath any vehicle that it is properly supported with sturdy jack stands and on level ground so that the vehicle doesn’t fall or slide off of the jack and onto you. As with any automotive repair, make sure you have the appropriate tools to do the job so you don’t damage any parts on the vehicle. There is a list of tools needed included in these instructions. Safety glasses and mechanic gloves should also be worn for your protection. Be sure to follow the instructions in the order that they are given. The instructions are in a certain order for a reason and improper installation could lead to damage to your vehicle or the parts. Keep in mind that if you damage the parts during installation you will be responsible for the replacement parts. When servicing any vehicle be sure to follow all safety procedures.

First, make sure that when lifting the vehicle that you are using the appropriate jack for the weight of the vehicle.

Make sure before going underneath any vehicle that it is properly supported with sturdy jack stands and on level ground so that the vehicle doesn’t fall or slide off of the jack and onto you.

As with any automotive repair, make sure you have the appropriate tools to do the job so you don’t damage any parts on the vehicle. There is a list of tools needed included in these instructions.

Safety glasses and mechanic gloves should also be worn for your protection.

Removal

61691c-61692c Air to Passive Coil Conversion Kit • Unity Automotive

Our complete strut assemblies are completely assembled from the factory. These units

contain a coil spring under compression. DO NOT ever loosen the top mount main bolt for preventon of both physical harm and vehicle

damange.

1. Turn off air suspension switch. (#1)

2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position to place steering

column in unlocked position.

3. Loosen but do not remove three top mount nuts. (#2)

4. Raise vehicle on hoist.

5. Remove tire and wheel assembly.

6. Remove brake hose bracket from front strut.

7. Remove vinyl cover from upper link stud. Remove stabilizer bar

link nut, and remove stabilizer bar link from front strut. (#3)

8. Disconnect air suspension height sensor from lower height

sensor ball stud and position out of the way.

10. Remove front spring and shock-to-front wheel knuckle pinch

bolt and nut. Lightly spray the shock tube to top of shock pinch

joint with Penetrating Lubricant or equivalent. Using a large

screwdriver, slightly spread knuckle-to-front spring and shock

pinch joint, if required, for removal.

11. Remove three top mount-to-shock tower nuts and remove front

strut and spring assembly from vehicle.

Use extreme care not to damage boot seal. Do not use power tools to tighten the nut or bearing and seal damage will result. Use the

hex hold feature to prevent stud from rotating. Do not allow the halfshaft to move

outboard.

Installation

Torque Values

61691c-61692c Air to Passive Coil Conversion Kit • Unity Automotive

1. Install front shock absorber (strut) and spring assembly and three top mount-to-shock tower nuts; leave nuts loose. 2. Position front shock absorber (strut) into front wheel knuckle. 3. Install a new front shock-to-front wheel knuckle pinch bolt and nut. Tighten to 98-132 Nm (73-98 ft. lbs.).

CAUTION: Use extreme care not to damage boot seal. Do not use power tools to tighten the nut or bearing and seal damage will result. Use the hex hold feature to prevent stud from rotating.

NOTE: After reassembly of wheel end, make sure the front wheel drive halfshaft is fully inserted into the transaxle. Visually inspect the seal area. Some polished surface is due to axial runout and is normal. Grasp the inboard housing and gently pull outward. A slight drag from the snap ring should be felt. Failure to fully seat halfshaft into tran-saxle may result in premature failure of halfshaft or transaxle.

4. Install stabilizer bar link to front shock absorber (strut) and install a new stabilizer bar link nut.5. Install screw and front brake hose to front shock absorber (strut).6. Install tire and wheel assembly.7. Lower vehicle.8.Tighten three top mount-to-shock tower nuts

Suspension Light Disable1. Find the air suspension module located behind the glovebox on the right side of the vehicle.

2. Behind the glove box, mounted to the heater plenum is a connection with two plugs, one GRAY, one BLACK, or both GRAY, each about 2". On the BLACK or TOP connector, midway, is a DARK GREEN/LIGHT GREEN wire (this is pin #11). Cut this wire to disable the "Check Air Suspension" light. Cut as far from the plug as you can should it ever need to be reconnected/spliced. Reattach the glove box.
