Recruiters Being Issued Smartphones Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) is in the process of equipping our field force with a pocket-size tool that can locate and identify potential recruits and disseminate information to them as quickly as possible. Challenges are Inspiring Challenges inspire me, especially if they come in the form of military problems. Many of you love a challenge, too. I thrive on leading Army professionals to develop viable solutions and putting them in action.

Recruiter Clowns Around in Free TimeAt just over 6 feet tall with broad shoulders and a stern brow, Master Sgt. Daniel R. Lucas can be a little intimidating when he’s in uniform. But when this recruiter sheds his camouflage for a much more colorful and conspicuous uniform, with face paint and a curly wig, he becomes much more approachable.

Intelligence Driven ProspectingWe have all heard that intelligence drives maneuvers or

operations. It is no different in recruiting when it pertains to directed prospecting.

Tuition Assistance Changes for 2014Beginning Jan. 1, a cap was placed on the number of semester hours that can be taken using tuition assistance. Soldiers will be able to use TA one year after graduating from initial entry training and can take up to 16 semester hours per fiscal year.

Recruiter/High School Football CoachTo the students of Desert Hills High School, Staff Sgt. Timothy O’Hara is known as “Coach O’Hara.” The Arizona recruiter has been spending most of his off-duty time studying X’s and O’s as the Cougars’ head football coach.

Army Brand HealthFrom a brand perspective, the Army clearly is a universally known brand; unless you’re living in a cave, you are aware of the Army brand. It’s the measurement of good brand health, ‘relevancy’ where the Army seems to be missing the mark.

AAFES Honors Employee with DisabilityOn Nov. 15, Tony Garcia received an award from AAFES for being selected as the Exchange’s worldwide outstanding associ-ate with a disability for 2013. Garcia was selected because of his incredible work ethic and ability to overcome his physical problems
