USIEF STRUCTURE

• Program management and staff overseen by the Executive Director, Adam J. Grotsky, and Deputy Director, Dr. Diya Dutt

• Central office in New Delhi with regional offices in Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai

• Administration of Fulbright and other fellowships for Indian and American students, lecturers, researchers and professionals.

• Promotion of dialogue among Fulbrighters and their communities as an outgrowth of educational exchange.

• Educational Advising Services for Indian students interested in pursuing higher education in the U.S., and U.S. students in India.

• Serve as a clearinghouse for linkages between higher education institutions in the U.S. and India through its office of U.S. – India Higher Education Cooperation (USIHEC)

• Since 1950, USIEF has awarded around 8,200 Fulbright Fellowships to Indians and Americans and 8700 other awards

• For 2012-13, USIEF has awarded 177 Fellowships to Indian citizens, including 152 Fulbright-Nehru Fellowships

• For 2012-13, USIEF has awarded 211 Fellowships to U.S. citizens, including 175 Fulbright-Nehru Fellowships

USIHEC: Fostering Indo-US collaborations

• The Office of U.S. - India Higher Education Cooperation is a recent addition to USIEF. It has been established through an initiative of the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs of the State Department. The USIHEC engages institutions of higher education in the US and in India to foster and enhance linkages between them. 

• It seeks to deepen institutional ties in numerous ways: in areas of collaborative research, study abroad programs, faculty exchanges and conferences of higher education administrators from both countries.
