What is UN CMCoord?

The essential dialogue and interaction between civilian and military actors in humanitarian emergencies necessary to avoid competition, minimize conflict, and, when appropriate, pursue common goals. The key elements are information sharing, task sharing, and joint planning. Basic strategies are coexistence or cooperation.. It is a shared responsibility facilitated by liaison and the deployment of CMCoord officers.

Conclusion

In most cases, military forces are a last resort for providing relief in humanitarian emergencies. Over-reliance on military assets, or their imprudent use, will severely damage the humanitarian system and place humanitarian activities and workers at risk.

Coordination is not only a function, it is a SHARED RESPONSIBILITY. If you don’t do it, neither will they.
