It is called the Union Flag because it symbolises the administrative union of the countries of the United Kingdom. The United KingdomConsists of a group of islands of the northwest coast of Europe.

    The queen lives In Buckingham palace in London.Queen Elizabeth 2nd ascended the throne on February 6,1952 upon death of her father, King George 7th. But the coronation at Westminster abbey. Followed on June 2nd, 1953.The queen is married to HRH Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, the son of prince and princess Andrew of Greece Denmark. They married on November 1947.
